Oh, I thought BSG was just some derivative sci-fi series that steals everything from
The Last Jedi
:
A perpetual chase as the last survivors aboard a big ship most constantly run from the ships of a superior and monolithic enemy that pursues them, even through faster-than-light jumps. This enemy was long thought defeated and driven away, a tenuous peace now in place after the war, but the enemy shocked everyone by launching a brutal sneak attack that wiped almost everyone out. Meanwhile, there is turmoil and drama on the big ship of survivors, as folks aren't sure who to trust or who should be in charge. Sometimes, folks take a shuttle out on a little adventure to try to get help. Fuel is a huge problem. And a character keeps seeing and talking to another character who is not actually there, but is trying to twist and corrupt the motives of the character to join the other side.
I mean, TLJ is so clearly just Rian Johnson's derivative attempt to make a BSG Knockoff using the Star Wars IP. Everyone loves to lament how JJ tried to turn Star Trek into Star Wars, but I am perpetually surprised that I've never seen anyone else note that RJ merely turned Star Wars into BSG.
I am bad at guessing.
I saw that **** Legion Article and thought it was about the SSD when I saw Palpatine’s face. Oh Legion... ?
FFG, is Palpatine really a good direction for your “minor skirmish in nowhere” miniatures game? I can forgive it in Imp ***, the players are HEROS. It’s an RPG. But you honestly expect my rag tag squad of rebels raiding an imperial mine in the outer rim to run into Emperor Palpatine? What the **** is he doing out there? Mixing up his jogging regime? And there’s a chance my generic squad of rebel soldiers can defeat him? Just out-blast him with some well place grenades?
“Ok Trooper Squad 2018923-B, we’re sending you to patrol Mine Camp 12483873737 due to reports of potential rebel sabotage. Sergeant 12-156-71 had already requested this as a family day, so instead you’ll be under the command of HIS IMPERIAL MAJESTY EMPEROR PALPATINE. Please don’t let him die in some random *** backwater skirmish.”

Someone has not read “Lords of the Sith.”
The angle missed:
“This is our chance to kill him.”
So you blow up joe star destroyer and then hunt him and Vader down from shuttle to evac.
Cham very nearly pulled it off.

Well, obviously Palpatine is there to convert Luke, who is in pretty much every Rebel Squad. Legion is like the vast majority of the old EU Books: nothing in the Galaxy Happens, no matter how minute or insignificant, unless a MAJOR HERO is there.
What I've always disliked about tabletop wargames and CCGs is that commanders are always the best fightin' pieces on the board, while basic troopers are like the worst. Star Wars CCG: Stormtroopers are Power 1 / Ability 1. This random Star Destroyer officer? Power 3 / Ability 2. That weirdo Alien car-wash guy? Power 4 / Ability 2. Legion is similar, in that it's meant to have a focus on the 'heroic' (or villainous) characters leading the squad.
I agree that it's silly Palp is at all these backwater barbeques, but I don't thinks it's any less silly than Luke or Vader always being there, either. That's just the nature of Legion.

Hey, the characters in Battlestar Galactica are LIGHT YEARS more interesting than anyone in TLJ.
I got the chaplain in my unit stuck on saying "So say we all" at the end of prayers, so that people don't feel obliged to say Amen. Its strange to hear people repeat it after him. Half my time growing up in the church, "So say we all" lead into an Amen anyway.
BSG is only because Starbuck is awesome character - no matter the literature or genre.
So what's your new guess @Bakura83 ? November 9th? November 16th? Sometime into December?

I failed you all once, I can’t take the pressure of doing it twice. But probably sometime in November.
Look to @Triangular , he is your leader now. I must diminish into the West.
All hail the Triangle! (be it 8 or 19km long)
Behold Triangular, His new Prophet, may he stay Equilateral to all!

I actually liked General Hux's character development. It feels like the tension between him and Ren could become a major plot element. Rose gets a lot of unfair hate too IMO. Whether or not people liked her, she did have personality.
When it comes to the writing, I'm always down to complain about that some more though.

General Hux would have been much better if he was less cartoonishly a nazi Stand-in. Just as deplorable, but more capable. It’s hard to hate a villain who’s an egotistical buffoon. Love Domnal Gleeson despite.
Rose did have a personality, and a capable, likeable actress, just a lame story.

To me Hux’s comedic ineptitude outright prevented him from feeling like a Nazi, so I just saw him as a sheltered, aristocratic snob. His Starkiller Base speech being the exception, of course.

Nazi was a lazy word to use, and a poor choice, but what I meant was that he was the sort of nazi character you’d have in a satirical farce, rather than a meanacing villian, which is fine if your subject is real world politics or you are making a screwball comedy, but completely tone-deaf as a threat in your otherworldly space fantasy high adventure movie.
Like, I love Skelator, but he’d feel a bit out of place in the Jason Momoa Conan movie.
Edited by Bakura83Hux very much has that same mindset of military commanders leading into and during the first half of WW1 really. An autocratic, aristocratic snob of a commander who doesnt expect the resistance to do much. What with the New Republic demilitarizing (need in novels, thats a different point I have about the new series), and then most of what they had being destroyed in 7 when the capital and other worlds were destroyed, he doesnt expect the resistance to, well, resist.
So I'd say, its less fair to call him NAZI, and more a commander who has been always told to fight one type of war, and its not the war he is fighting.
Cult of Armada,
Book of the Super Star Destroyer;
The Galaxy has changed,
I can feel it in the waters,
I can feel it on the planets,
I can smell it in the air...
Much that once was, has been lost. There are none now left to remember it...
It began with the forging of the Sabers of Power. Three, for the Mandalorians, their immortal culture, wisest and fairest of all. Seven for the Sith Lords, masters of the dark side on their broken world. Nine, nine sabers for the Jedi Knights, cloaked in light, who above all else, desire peace.
But they were all of them decieved, for another saber was made. On the fires of Mustifar, on the slopes of Mount Doom, the dark lord Darth Vader forged a master saber was made, and into it he poured his cruelity, his malice, and his will to dominate all life.
One Saber to rule them all, one saber to find them. One Saber to bring them all, and in darkness, bind them. On the world of Mustafar, where the shadows lie.
One by one, the worlds of the galaxy fell to the power of the Saber, but there were those who resisted. A last alliance of rebels from across the galaxy marched against the armies of the Empire, on the forest moon of Endor, and in the Death Star itself...
Victory was at hand, but the power of the Dark Side could not be understood...
It was in this moment, when all hope faded, that Luke Skywalker took up his fathers Saber...
Emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader, the enemies of the free peoples of the galaxy were slain. The Saber passed to Luke, who had this one chance to destroy the darkness from the galaxy forever... but the force, has a will of its own, and the hearts of men are easily toyed with.
The Force betrayed Luke, who had lived in peace for twenty five years. History became legend, legend became myth. And for thirty years, the Saber fell out of knowledge. Until, by chance, it came to a new bearer.
It stayed in Maz Kanata's castle, waiting. Darkness crept into the Unknown Regions, and rumors rose of a new Dark Lord... at last The Saber revealed itself, but something happened the Force did not expect.
