Not a specific rules question per-se, but a question about rules questions in general. (Meta-question!)

How frequently does FFG historically put out official rulings, update rules references, and answer questions? And do they ever actually respond to rules questions sent in via the form?

I ask because I sent in a couple of questions over three weeks ago -- both of which have so, so many pages on topics on the forum -- and never got so much as a "we've recieved your question" auto-reply. So, I'm wondering if this is normal and I just need to be more patient, or if they're being particularly slow to respond in 2nd edition.

It's very rare to ever receive a direct reply on a rules question. Especially post Asmodee. The official ruling thing on the forum is new since 2.0 so for a frequency on that your guess is as good as mine. In 1e the last couple years we basically only got rules updates and clarifications when a new FAQ would drop. It looks like the format for this one may be no full fledged FAQ and they'll jus update the Rules Reference over time as it's only available online anyway. That also seems to be the format in L5R as well.

Traditionally it's months in between FAQ updates. The official rulings will hopefully be more frequent but we don't really have data on that yet to gauge.

Given that this is the only thing to go on, I guess we've got not reason to expect anything better than that. Hopefully that turns out to not be the case.

More patience it is, then.

In the very near future, the Deluxe wave tournament kits will ship, this month I think. I wouldn't be surprised if there is a rules update before those start happening. But then again, they will focus on Wave one only and I'm not sure that the majority of the questions have anything to do with wave one ships or upgrades. so..... maybe not?

Interesting to note that the squad builder recently updated to 1.0.4 (not sure when exactly), but has no changelog posted along with it.

FFG move in mysterious ways. The rules will be updated irregularly and with no explanation. They will make contradictory rulings and leave people with no way to workout card interactions. They will print cards which straight up do not work and then just rule that they do etc. Just as it was so will it ever be.

My favorite part is that they broke the card database images and still haven't fixed it. Making that feature completely useless.
