Rotate turret

By GeneralZod217, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Hi,

Just a couple of questions regarding the rotate turret action

Dengar for example only has it listed as a linked action that causes stress. Can he still perform a rotate turret action on its own or only as part of a linked action?

Or if a Y-wing is given a turret upgrade does it automatically gain the rotate action as a white action?

The jumpmaster can only rotate after a linked and it is indeed red so stressful.

Turret cards add the action to rotate to your ship. See on the right side of the card.

All the info is on the cards.

I never noticed that before. No, he can't do a rotate alone. It MUST be linked from a focus or a target lock.

Both Ion Cannon Turret and Dorsal turret add a white turret rotate action to your action bar. So, yes. (Note that it's specific to those turrets. Future turrets may not necessarily have this ability. For example, they may add it as red instead.)

Thanks for the replies. I didn't notice the icons on the upgrades.

Good to know about Dengar.

Raises interesting questions. What about a turret weapon that did NOT provide the rotate turret option? You have to fix it at the beginning of the game, and can't move it on its own. Maybe you'd need to invest in Agile Gunner... or would have to leave it locked into one arc or another?

I suppose it's possible that they'd make some kind of fixed turret upgrade. Could be neat. I suspect some kind of "heavy turret" with a red rotate is probably more likely.

Or an automatic turret that turns to an adjacent sector once per round without your control.

It's one of the big reasons Dengar is trash in this edition, and all Jump Masters for that matter.

A further question on turrets... can you set up with them facing in the direction of your choice or do they default to the front facing position?

Set them up facing any direction you like.

The RR states "During setup, a ship with a primary (or special) ? or ? weapon adds the corresponding turret arc indicator to its base. The turret arc indicator points toward one of the ship’s four standard arcs." So while it doesn't explicitly state what direction or option of directions the turret can be set up in it seems like you get to choose as there only restriction specifically stated is that it needs to point toward one of the ships four standard arcs.

It is the only ship with a turret weapon that don't have rotate as a white action...

Seriously, they made Jumpmaster so bad that you have to wonder if there will ever be a cost where they will be interesting to play... (Outside idiot thing like making them cost 12 points)

Edit: It is even more ironic when you place it next to the Scum Falcon and the Upgrade it can get...

And has a title allowing it to boost and rotate arc while stressed (up to two/three tokens)
