2.0 debris damage

By Skyworthy, in X-Wing Rules Questions

according to the rulebook when you overlap a debris obsticle you do the follwing: ship becomes stressed and roll an attack die on a critical hit result take a crtitical face up damage. It does not say you take damage on a regular hit result.

is this a typo or is it only on a crit you receive damage?

This is correct. When you go over a debris, you only suffer any sort of damage (In this case its critical damage) when you roll a crit result.

It's worth noting you do not take a face up damage, you suffer a critical damage which you can just take on your shields.

So does any type of damage bypass shields and take damage directly off of hull? (Obstacles, devices, upgrade card abilities)

There's only one source that does to the best of my knowledge in the whole of 2e - Seyn Marana's pilot ability.
