How to best build and fly Kullbee in 2.0?

By Jeff1121, in X-Wing

Last night I flew Kullbee's T-65 X-Wing. While I did well enough to win with it, I felt like I wasn't maximizing his abilities (i.e. - Servomotor S-foils) well.

Any suggestions for best builds on him? Also, I'd really appreciate people's thoughts on how to best fly the new X-65's (specifically Kullbee).

Thanks for everybody's forthcoming responses!

Not sure why this took 2 days to post, but bumping this back up to the top for visibility.

R4 astro is pretty good on him since he is boosting focusing a lot and sitting an stress so having more blue maneuvers is very important.

Other than that, I like outmaneuver. Have not tried yet with predator but would take that if the points were tight.

Basically, R4 seems like a bolt on, other then that its season to taste, he is probably great with just R4.

I tend to prefer my X wings pretty slim unless it's Luke.

Kullbee only seems to want an R4 to help leverage the focus>boost link of Sfoils closed.

This is pretty sound. I am thinking of getting him someone to help him coordinate. Kullbee is a true flanker for a list. I have used him with Daredevil for flanking shenanigans.

He’s not the focus of a list he’s a role player so keep that in mind. Best uses of him is to harass or even draw an opponent away. If he’s targeted first laugh... cause someone ignored the real threat. He’s solid one on one for his options on unpredictable end points based on his ability to maneuver. He feels a lot like an Intercepter without the ability to barrel roll and boost in the same turn without help.

I'd say R4 is good.

Predator is a decent cheap EPT, especially with the repositioning.

But yeah I've had some fun with him.

. . . . . . . . .

Daredevil could be fun, too. Any official word if X-Wings with closed s-foils can equip Daredevil? (Same thing goes for if can you equip Tactical Officer if you equipped Squad Leader?)

I don't see a reason not... And the app lets you. They have the actions added so why would you not be able to?

I keep my ships as light as possible by only using a single peg.

Real rebels don't use pegs

r4 seems fine

You're basically a fang fighter at that point, and the same cost as a skull squadron

No faceoff, but the Xwing is just tougher overall

Add on predator and you're good to go

R4 is killer for him!

Because it wouldn't have worked in 1e, essentially. Dual cards were not put into play until setup, so their effects were ignored at list building. I don't know if this is still the case for 2e though, and this is the only case where it could be currently.

Let's go with you can for 2 reasons, first this is not first edition so don't assume anything works the same, and second the app lets you.

The app does let us do other illegal things, but in the absence of anything telling us you can't do it then I think we have to go with the fact the application lets you.

The app is not a reliable rules source *at all* arguing anything about list legality based on it is entirely irrelevant, at least from my perspective.

In the absence of any other rule its all we have.... since there is no other rule anywhere about fitting daredevil to a T-65 then we go with what we have.

What's your argument? "the only thing we have that tells us we can or can't do it has been wrong in the past, so clearly it must be wrong this time"

Its all we have right now on this.... what else can we do?

Not that it's been wrong in the past. It is wrong currently.

A lot of this stuff seems to be determined by setup. After setup, anything goes. Cikatro allows you to transfer illicit upgradess to ships that normally couldn't take them, right? Same should work for S-Foils. As long as you begin the game with your S-Foils equipped boost-side up, I don't see how it would be a problem.

Why is it wrong in the s-foils daredevil case? Point me to a single thing from the rules that stops that from working.

It is wrong about other things which makes it inherently untrustworthy.

I'm not arguing about the rules fwiw there's nothing either way on this question - and there should be - I'm arguing that the app is not a usable rules source at the moment unless you're happy for me to run crew Vader and pilot Vader in the same list.
