Swarm tactics

By Minimono, in X-Wing Rules Questions

I have been told that you can’t «link» iniative to several pilots using multippel ships with swarm tactics.

As an example: Wedge having swarm tactics, giving another pilot who has I2 and swarm tactics, the posibility to have a third pilot I6 aswell.

the reasoning I was told is that swarm tactics just «make you act at I6, but the pilot don’t become an I6 pilot»

makes sense or not?

"Treat its initiative as equal to yours until the end of the round."

There's no limitation or specification there. For all purposes -- including their own Swarm Tactics -- their initiative is now yours.

The thing that doesn't work is the 1e swarm tactics/Roark combo.

Why doesn't this work? I once ran a squad with Roark, Cracken, Blount and a Talia. Roark and Blount with swarm tactics.

Because in 2e, Roark allows someone to engage at Initiative 7 (without altering their actual initiative value).

Roark states "engage at" which doesn't affect the number on the card, Swarm Tactics states "treats its initative as" which does.

I misread Spaceinvaders response. I took it that Roark and Swarm Tactics didn't work in 1e.

Thanks for answers! So what is the conclusion on 2ed Roark and swarm tactics? Can you have several pilots engaging at iniative 7?

No, because Roark's ability does not alter anyone's initiative value.

Just to be clear, if I stick Swarm Tactics on Roark and two other pilots in a 4 ship squad, Roark would allow 1 ship to engage at I7 and the other ships to engage at I4. Is this correct? Of course this assumes all the conditions are met for Roark and Swarm Tactics to trigger.

Yes

Again: Thanks for taking the time to reply folks! It helps a lot!
