They probably are not the same size, but the scale has crept up a bit during the last few waves.

Do you integrate those into Scythe? Instead of mechs you get IA heroes? Or do they replace the workers and the mechs are AT-STs, Rancors, etc? Probably need the large board expansion. ?

Saska is a small woman like Jyn, and Tress isn't human. Death Troopers are selected to be tall.

It matters to me because I've avoided buying the legion models because of the size difference. If newer IA models are the same (or similar) scale to legion then I may have to buy some.

I've been wondering this about the new Legion Boba Fett model. The IA version is a little on the scrawny side, and if the Legion model doesn't look that outlandish I'd be tempted to use him instead. Anyone have a picture of the Legion Boba next to some IA figures (heroes, storm troopers, old Boba, etc.)?

Yeah, I always thought comparing figures wasn't quite a scientific approach. Not all humans are the same size, after all. Just ask my wife, who's over a foot and a half shorter than me.

I'd imagine you should probably be okay. Figures like Vader or Fett should be imposing, anyway.

Thanks. Given the difference in stance, that’s maybe not a terrible difference. Plus, them being a higher level trooper, I can understand them being a little bulkier.

They are, the wiki confirms it.

the sculpts are now being done in the computer, i believe the molds are 3D modeled and the minis are cast from that. perhaps a critical scale thing with how small they can print.

I have a picture of the two Boba next to each other, but no place to post it. I guess I could go through and find all my posts with pictures and delete them. Anyway, Boba, at first, looks a lot bigger in legion, but if you compare parts, like helmet to helmet, or EE3 to EE3, the size is not quite as big, but it is bigger. Legion Boba has a full extended body where as IA Boba is hunched over.

I'd definitely be interested in seeing that comparison picture, when/if you get around to posting it! I'm curious how Legion Boba looks next to other Imperial Assault figures... whether his extended pose makes him tower over the other human-sized figures, or if it makes him suitably imposing.

That being said though, the head thing is interesting. Wasn't Legion using the more Games Workshop style of exaggerated limbs, and IA wasn't? Maybe we are now? I definitely don't have the eye for detail for that kind of thing, but it could make sense.

If we don't end up getting Rogue One stuff, I might have to consider some of these to add in...

Ironically, as I read it, Jyn Erso seems pretty similar to our Jyn Odan gameplay-wise.

Let's do some like to like comparisons. New IA Minis are bigger, but still not legion scale and would look weird on a legion table even if on a proper base.

Legion minis will fit on an IA board (though they overlap the square) and can occasionally be used to great effect.

In my heart of the empire campaign the first time they ran in to Vader (ever for that group) was in Diala's mission. I used my IA vader and it was impressive (most impressive) for the tone and introduction.

Sorin, Thrawn and Veers

Kayne and a Legion Stormtrooper leader

Stormtrooper, Death Trooper and Legion Stormtrooper (I used the elite because they all have about the same knee bend going on)

Echo Base Trooper and Spotter from Legion FD.1 Cannon

1. There are two 'eras' of IA-minis with a very different sculpting style and scale: The pre-Bespin Gambit era, where the minis are distinctly smaller in scale and less well defined and clean in both sculpt and production, and the era satrting with Bespin Gambit, where a very clean, well-defined digital sculpting style was introduced which is used still these days, both in IA AND Legion, the difference being that for Legion the figures are generally made slightly taller and often bigger or 'wider'.

2. If you compare IA-figures from the pre-Bespin Gambit era to figures from Legion, you do not get any insight into how significant the scale difference is to the vast majority of IA-figures, namely from the era since Bespin Gambit.

3. There still are slight scale differences even within the range of figures for the same game - not all post-Bespin Gambit-figures for IA are 100% in scale to each other, and neither are all Legion models.
