Hammerheads and Yavaris and Jamming field oh my! (Cracken)

By ExplosiveTooka, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

So the basic strategy of this list is to leverage Yavaris going last first to win or stalemate the squad fight, Hammerheads will be doing their hammerhead schtick, and adar keeps all of my squads cozy while they wait for the enemy alpha strike. With jamming field I am less reliant on obstacle placement, and cracken sorta likes having an open field and denying his opponent the chance to use obstacles for cover. One of the things I really like about this version is the synergy between nym and the hammerheads. They hate it when they deal 6 damage and it gets braced down to three.

Looking for advice on how to refine this list.

I feel like it’s going to be a constant struggle for your squadrons to keep up with your ships, especially Ten and the 1300s. I know Ten is awesome, but maybe Corran would be useful here to reduce the pressure on the FCTs. And perhaps a pair of X Wings would be preferable over the YTs?

Cool list -- I played Cracken + Bombers (w/ Nym) for all of last year's store championships / regionals season and it's still my favorite list to fly.

Granted, my list was more focused on squad damage output instead of ships ( I had AF/2xTRC90As), but just a couple of suggestions if they could help (beside's CommanderDave's useful comments about squadron speed):

- Swapping flotilla officers might help. Adar to BCC and adding boosted comms (even dropping Bright Hope) lets you keep it farther away from danger and continue activating the squad ball even if it's speed 3-ing away from the engagement. It also breaks up your reroll sources, for when they start blowing up.

- You might get more mileage out of comms net than jamming field (giving you more frequent triple double-taps from Yavaris). Maybe between Hondo and pocketed tokens you already get what you'd like out of that, been awhile since I played Yavaris regularly.

I run a cracken list like this, but with cr90's. The big change in squads imo would be to add Hera. She gives the threat to rogue in nub, dutch, or nym followed by a Yavaris double. Hera doubles, or even quads via adar murders squads. Against a no squad fleet, a nym, dutch, nub, hera ball moving around un opposed can wreck havoc.

Edit: don't forget gold squad, or wedge ?

Would add OE for all those hammerheads. Really amps up consistency.

Unless you are fishing for crits with sato, OE is completely unnecessary. Considering, that the hammerheads will be either dead or rolling just one black die after the first attack each game, TFO should be more than enough.

As for the list, it looks like a solid concept that would be a ton of fun to fly. My only suggestion that hasn’t already been said is that Cracken is looking a little exposed on your hammerhead. You might consider throwing on lando and moving Hondo to a different ship.

Yea that is true, not necessary
