(I actually loved the movie - I just couldn’t resist the joke)
Anyway, last night I couldn’t bear the thought of doing another squad so I cracked open Capt. Solo and painted him up. If I spent two hours on it I’d be a little surprised - and it shows.

The yellow bands were a pain. I tried solid yellow, didn’t like it. I tried drawing brown stripes and didn’t like it. So I painted over the whole thing in brown then added back the yellow stripes. The color is actually Citadel Flash Glitz Yellow with a little Army-Painter strong tone mixed in (because I like to wing it and I just wanted to mute the color a bit. Worked okay). Anyway this is okay for my sloppy table top standard.

I spent a bit more time in the coat color and for the Base gray I mixed one part steel Legion drab with two pets screaming skull. It came out to exactly the way I wanted, and I got a terrific basecoat. Then promptly ruined it with the wash. No matter how much I fuss, dilute, don’t dilute, etc. my washers just puddle all over surfaces and don’t fill the cracks the way I hope. This was army painter dark tone. Anyway I used a wet brush to scrape some off the flat parts. Then didn’t like that. So I added some of the mournfang brown/steel Legion drab mix of brown I used for the pants to imitate the camouflage spots that are included on a lot of toys representing this outfit. They don’t look a whole lot like the film version but I was surprised how much I liked it in the end.
I did the boots and belt in a 50/50 mournfang/rhinox hide. If I had to do it all again I would donthe boots black. Overall he’s a bit too brown (like if Han Solo was done as a chocolate sculpture)
Shirt is cream and everything is basically washed in Strong tone.

So yeah. He’s okay. Gets the job done and certainly as good as the effort I put in. I’m still thinking of base ideas but the lead right now is a rock painted to look mossy with green grass. I have to balance out all that brown...
EDIT: Just as an aside, a lot of people are complaining about his big forehead. I think if you bring his hairline down just a bit with paint then you don’t really need to do any modifications to the sculpt.
