A4 Character Sheet - Going Token Free... [finished sheet uploaded]

By Court Jester, in Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

There are parts of 3rd Edition I love and there are parts I loved but have grown to realise I'm not too keen on but I'm not bitter. I realise WFRP 3 is very modular so I am working on adapting to meet my needs.

The first part of this is dealing with Fatigue, Stress, Stances and Wounds. I don't have a problem with most of these mechanically but I have realised that I'm not overly keen on heaps of tokens sitting on character sheets and the doo-dads that need to be micro managed.

[picture removed - new sheet further down thread]

So I took the (far from original I'm sure) idea of shifting these free roaming game components onto the character sheet. The idea is that you use paperclips to track the wounds, fatigue, stress and stances or just a pencil and eraser.

I am working on a second page that will mostly be trappings and anything else I have forgotten and can't retcon onto the front page.

Ha!

And I have just realised I have only got a merged copy of the photoshop file so I can' edit it anyhow unless I rebuild it from the ground up.

And I have just spotted a typo.

D'oh.

And there's also the sad chance that you'll have to take it offline as it seems to have a similar layout and font than the original one... sad.gif

I think this is fine. It's derivative rather than copied, and makes use of no copyrighted images.

That is a brilliant sheet. I like the original setup, but my group usually plays by a low coffe table, it lots of pizza slices and snacks floating around, so this might work out better. I will present both options to my players, so they can choose.

The idea with clipboards and paperclip markers is great. I've seen some adhesive plastic pockets (made for business cards, I think) that would be brilliant for "slotting" the two talent cards.

Great work!

Very nice work and layout.

However, I don't see a spot for Advanced skills and the boxes for training them. The advance scheme looks like it would go better with the second sheet which most likely keeps track of the career advances.

Hey there, I did have a space for advanced skills where the special abilities were but decided it took up to much space for something that probably wouldn't ever be fully used. So I removed it with the intention that Advanced skills could just be written into the boxes at the end of the skills lists.

I also realised last night when writing up a character that I had left out the skills advancement boxes on the advance scheme...

I'll be finishing off the rebuilt character sheet later on and will fix all of this...

I like it. Now get me Card-free and we-re getting somewhere. :)

i prefer that all abilities be on a sheet of paper.

jh

Alrighty... I had some spare time today so rebuilt the character sheet but was a touch more clever with the technicalities of the build (so using the same theme for a GM screen and other sheets will be quite painless).

This is the new sheet...

I used different fonts mainly because... we just because. I have moved the advance scheme onto page 2 and used the excess space for insanities and injuries. Over the course of my games I have realised that some Critical Wounds have effects that we like to keep around even after it has been healed. And there needs to be a space for insanity and its effects as there has been quite a bit of that going around in my game.

Page 2 is due very soon and then a 3 panel GM screen for the Savage Worlds custom GM Screen thingy.

As for getting rid of the action cards I'm not going to be doing that... ;-p

I really like them and although I have a wound track on the character sheets now I'm still going to use the cards for critical wounds.

I keep getting page not found errors when I try and open that PDF link

i admire all you guys that can do this kind of stuff. we owe you big time, thanks.

Ah... my apologies. I got ahead of myself with deleting out old files before uploading the new ones...

I now have what I will loosely call a finished character sheet...

The front page:
wfrp-cs-page1.jpg

And the second page:
wfrp-cs-page2.jpg

And the URL for the high resolution PDF:

All comments and suggestions are appreciated.

A black and white, printer friendly version will be along soon...

thanks! this will likely see some use in a coming run

Cool! any plan to make it localized in others languages? I'll bet this community will gladly help! gui%C3%B1o.gif

I absolutely love these sheets. The layout is stunning and very professional. I did have a quick question, do you have the base templates you used to construct these sheets. I am making a magic card template to add to the Strange Eons program (so they are better organized and communicate information more clearly, rather than what we have now), and would love to use some of the art you used on these pages. Like the brown background, the blood splatter wound strip. The colored canvas. I was wondering if you had these elements (without the words and numbers and boxes) so I could use them on these cards. Of course, I will send them to Hurlanc so they will be modded for Strange Eons and be open to the entire community to use. I would greatly appreciate it. Maybe you could post them somewhere or we could figure out via email.

Thanks for the sheets though. I have one player who moans constantly over the chits, which is no big deal, I just have been trying to make my own sheet, but the A4 size makes this an absolutely perfect alternative. This sheet has solved our problem.

Anyway, let me know about the graphics and hopefully, we can work something out.

I'm curious. There are six boxes for skills, but as far as I know the limit for skills is three? Or have I missed something?

In the section on Skills in the rulebook it says that a skill can be trained once per rank. And characters can certainly be higher than rank 3. If this is rectified somewhere else in the rules please let me know and I'll swap out the 3 additional columns.

Also... I'm just re-uploading the sheet after fixing a small error with the number of boxes allowed for non-career advances.

I'll see about getting some PNG files uploaded at some point soon.

Wow, stunning!

Just a suggestion : why repeat the fatigue/stress/wounds/stances tracks on the second sheet? Maybe if you remove them and shift the central column to the right or lef, you couls add a new space for gear/notes.

Anyway, awesome work!

It is designed like that so that when using paperclips to track the values you will see the same information on either side. I did ponder removing them but there was something in me that demanded the paperclips on the back referenced something...

nice art, dude !

Now you may rework it a bit to add Corruption Point (see the new designer diary)

Could you please add a "zero" value on Fatigue, Stress and Wounds?

And maybe a Black and White version.

If you could post the pings, it would be great. You know, I was looking at your GM screen and I love that as well. Downloaded and saved.

Actually, all I would like are pings you used on the GM screen, without the text of course. The solid yellow-brown background and grey background, plus the far background ping. I would absolutely love them if you get the chance.

What I'm looking to do with it, if you really want to know is make an organized magic card. One, it will help with homebrew spells. Two, it would be a card that would reformat the spell cards so that power has its own area as well as the spell rank (which would be helpful if you use the alternate magic casting system in the house rules section). Third, we're looking at homebrewing some Elven Magic since it is probably years away and to adapt some spells from 2e over (that we imagine may not be covered like Hedge Magic, rune magic, shaman magic, etc). So, in exchange for getting me the ping, if you're interested in anything we make with them we would be happy to send to you and plan on posting them up for public consumption.

The only problem with the sheet is the ever expanding mechanics FFG are releasing. I don't know if you plan on adapting it everytime things come out, but a sheet with generic (blank name) areas on the trackers might be good as well. Just a thought.
