Eagerly Awaiting Next Necro'ed Gem of a Thread

By AllWingsStandyingBy, in Star Wars: Armada

This is unlikely but I'll say it anyway:

What if the delay for the next article is because Admiral Piett is being reworked?

I know that I wasn't alone in hoping for a front arc Ackbar.

I am having a hard time following your argument. You say that FFG will shut down a game because it has sold too much better than their expectations?

There are 1000 houses on my island and I’ve sold 2000 ovens. I’m very happy - sales have exceeded my wildest expectations. My first impulse is not to make 1000 more ovens...it’s to wind down and invest in something new. Like fridges.

Understand now?

There are a finite number of Armada players, and if 80-90% of their expected market has already over-bought in to the first 7 waves, it makes more sense to release something new than remake old stuff for the ever-shrinking number of potential new Armada players.

Because money is totally not allowed and we definitely wouldn't do anything so ridiculous. It's a resource worth pointing new players toward as is, there just seem to be a lot more people offering expansions rather than people asking for them.

Sorry I was thinking for some reason buying/selling directly from the trade forum wasn’t allowed? I could be 100% wrong.

You’re right, it isn’t. Which is why we’d never do that.

No, I’m sorry.

im ticked off by this now.

Do you have proof we’re talking that sort of number. Not that sort of oversaturation...

ARE WE?

I figure, Were talking, in our island of 1000, 10 people were expected to play, so they made enough for 20-30, and 9 people bought all the stock up multiple tunes...

Could be the case, anyway.

In the reason I’m ticked though, it seems YOU ARE STATING SUPPOSITION AS FACT.

That there is a finite number, and...

... well, you’re proving it wrong by getting more players, aren’t you?

If there are people without ovens, there are still people who may want ovens. Even if a habdful of people gave multiple ovens... (a terrible metaphor since it’s easy to get use out of multiple Arquitebs, but hard to get use out of multiple ovens...)

How are fridges necessariky a better investment when they may have been making fridges so hard and so fast for so long they recently had to drop Fridge 2.0 to try to repair some faulty coolant lines..?

Theres no telling what FFGs expected market is.

Because that’s business in confidence information.

In the end, you choose to be negative or positive.

Sure, stuff is sold out and not a priority...

... but it’s still planned to be reprinted. In time.

Which is certainly better than not.

No I’m not.

It’s frustrating to get new players excited about a game and then there be no stock of 80-90% of it for over a year, with no sign of local games stores having any interest in restocking, ever. That is all.

I thought it was pretty clear that I’m a net positive for the game, despite my frustrations, which I feel are genuine and reasonable.

FFG may reprint at some point. I think it’s a very real possibility that even if that happens new stock may never arrive in my local area.

It just seems that you are.

The intonation that I'm reading with your post is, effectively giving up hope.

"I think it’s a very real possibility that even if that happens new stock may never arrive in my local area."

Then, may I ask - what are you doing about it?

+ Have you contacted your Local Stores?
+ Have you contacted your Local Distributor?

+Have you placed an order or a pre-order?

+Have you suggested those other interested parties do?
+Have you suggested they do it together in order to present a "minimum front" ?

Sometimes, even an "expression of interest" being passed up the line can help.

I mean... I know I'm an oddity. But that should never be a barrier...

My wife and I formed and run "the best 40k club in Victoria" a few years ago... We won the Inaugural interclub challenge. We had a whole bunch of players, and this with living 5 hours from the nearest stockist of games workshop... So far out in the sticks and bushland of the country that you could not post parcels above 1kg without having to drive 2 hours to pick them up... Because they weren't delivered... So there was no parcel service.

If the excitement is there, then it builds and it reinforces... But its critical that the excitement is there, and only you can generate that excitement. Only you can, even if it is in the face of everything.... Or, in my case, even if it is out of spite at the world. :)

Its very hard to read someone being excited and positive, when they also admit they're essentially giving up hope and accepting the possibiliy of it as "very real".

Thats... Less positive than one is trying to present.

But I get it. I'm the No-Fun, No-Whining Police.

Expect me to go away now.

Boy, I am pretty sure I've got a few unopened blisters... Maybe I should put them up in the trade thread or do a giveaway. They're collecting dust, and if people are looking for them and can actually play games...

Liking this not because you are claiming to be a no-fun no whining police, and you absolutely shouldn't go away (but breaks are good if you need it!) but because this post is amazing at the level of commitment anybody can bring to a community and I know there is a silent majority that enjoys having you here Dras.

Is the problem that the Arquitens available through Amazon.uk are in French?

What items are you out of stock on?

This was a bad attempt at economics in general, and the subscription model of armada in particular.

Sure, armada is semi-dead, but NOT for the reasons you described.

Well, I’m not an economist. And again, I did preface with “I might be compleyely wrong”.

Well, I am an Economist (at least that was my major) and I can tell you that I have no idea what is going on. But that’s because economists count hypothetical beans in a vacuum ceteris parabis.

That's remind me a joke about a mathematician, a chemist and a physicist

I live in Germany and collect my stuff in English. So I bought some stuff from wayland. (Sorry for that!) Did you ever consider to buy stuff at the continent? At fantasywelt.de you'll get 16 of 26 expansions in English.
(Gozanti/Transports/ISD/Raider/Interdictor/Liberty/Rogue&Villains/Phoenix/Gladiator/Profundity/Corellian Conflict/AFII/Core Set/CR90/Nebulon/Chimaera you get at microconstruct.de)

Do it before Brexit will make it complicated and expensive!

This part just brought to me the end of the joke when the physicist says "let's say the cow is spherical..."

Come on guys, stay on topic. This is about how we need another necro'ed old discussion so we can have something "new" to talk about that's anything but the sheer lack of content and slow, untimely, but seemingly unavoidable death of this game ... literally every other thread on these boards for the past year has already tackled that issue... :(

The SSD will be our swan song. The last piece to our Armada Chess set and then it's end game.

Doom and gloom, Doom and gloom! Armada's dead, and I'm gonna spend all day everyday whining about it!

I heard FFG canceled the SSD and they're going to come to our houses stealing all our stuff that we purchased! Then Michael Gernes is gonna kick you in the chest and throw a RuneWars starter at you!

Where's that ignore button again....?

I'm getting the impression that mods don't want us to necro old threads. At least two of them have been locked.

Indeed, they are followers of Ren.

Let the past die, lock it, if you have too.
