Little emblems on squads

By sasska, in Star Wars: Armada Painting and Modification

Hi! I'm in trouble with painting my squadrons. I wanted insignias/emblems on their fuselage, and their wings. I would like to paint a balkenkreuz on some of them, but I have no idea how to make them. With hands only it proved to be very difficult for me. What would you advise? Are stickers out there? Or should I use templates? Any idea would be great. :)

You can get hold of some 1/300 or 1/600 scale transfers. Depends how much space you want them to occupy on the model.

Then get some Micro Sol to help place them onto uneven surfaces and also to make the glossy film around the decal almost disappear.

There are plenty of YouTube videos on how to use these products and do decals well.

Thank you very much! :)

Fighting piranha are se of the best you’ll get. Solid white backed clear framed decals. Battjetech. WW2, and even custom designs.

BUT

Youll wait 8 weeks for them, at last count.

So it’s hard to recommend them for “now” projects - but they are worth it if you can.

How about the decals sheet for Flames of War? I think they're the right size.

Once upon a time there was a game called Star Wars Pocket Models. It consisted of a pretty basic game using cards and miniatures made from polystyrene, roughly the size of 2-4 credit cards, and about the same thickness. Some of the sets came with a sticker/decal sheet. I use those as my decal markers. The only problem is that they are very glossy and obvious unless you do a flat or satin clear coat after you place the sticker. If you can get your hands on them on ebay, they're a pretty good collection of Star Wars specific decals.
