Sweatpants Empire Army WIP

By Sweatpants, in Painting

Hey guys,

I've been a lifelong StarWars nerd and model builder. When I saw Legion was coming out I knew I had to get in on the action.

Recently I have begun to explore the online community and have noticed how much more motivated I am to finish painting my guys when I share my stuff online. At this rate I think ill be done with my first squad of Stormtroopers by Friday!

I'm working on an 800pt army that is heavy on bikes. Scout troopers are my favorite.

Your troopers look great. I really like the Scout Trooper so far. The speeder bikes have been my favorite to paint so far. I picked up a few packs of Scout Troopers myself. I like the look of them and plan to give a couple squads a custom paint scheme. I am thinking Shadow Trooper and possibly Sand Trooper themes.

Great work and I look forward to more posts.

Nice work so far on your Stormtroopers and bikes! If you like Scout Troopers (I know how you feel), be sure to grab at least one set of the special forces Scout Trooper unit (the dismounted ones) as they can be quite useful.

C3POFETT, I am with you in thinking of getting a Scout Trooper set to paint up as Storm Commandos (I painted a Stormtrooper unit as Shadow Troopers). I also have thought of painting a set as Kashyyyk Scout Troopers. latest?cb=20070224015723

Really nice looking Stormtroopers. I’ve painted 9 for Imperial Assault and now 28 for Legion and they are by far the hardest thing to make look good. Everyone knows what they are supposed to look like and painting things white is just so hard...

I am totally with you in sharing your work as motivation. I really enjoy posting my stuff even though it’s not going to win any awards, and I love looking at what others are doing with their models. Welcome to the forums and keep up the good work.

Got first squad done. Starting bikes and dismounted scout troopers today!

Thanks for all the encouraging comments.

Very nice work.

What finish di you use for the shine on the STs?

I have experiments with Satin and Gloss on just a few spare troopers but couldnt decide?

The Stormtroopers have several very thin glazing coats of Vallejo Panzer aces german tank crew white. There is no satin or gloss varnish on them at the moment.

My current plan is to finish the entire army in the same way, spray matte varnish over everything then go over again with diluted satin varnish for some of the armor.

I truthfully don't foresee myself playing that much with my miniatures, as Im more of a painter than a wargames. So I might forgo the varnish all together to preserve the present finish I have.

Some more progress on the Army. 1st squad is done. and first bike is done. Got all the bikes airbrushed in base colors and highlights. Just gotta block in the other colors and detail paint+base... and paint another five scouts to ride lol..

Two bikes done!

Four bikes done.

Got Dark Father painted up too...

I really enjoyed putting paint on Ralph Nader. He was very fun to paint. Dork Voldor is such an iconic dude.

Think I'll start Airbrushing one of my AT-ST's tomorrow. Stand by for that!

Whats painted so far. Display case. How do you guys display your models?

Have to admit, every time I see this thread I literally expect stormtroopers in sweatpants.

I was also severely disappointed due to this expectation. :(

Sorry guys :(

I gotta figure out some sweatpants mods for my guys in the future. In the meantime I'll keep wearing sweatpants painting my little dudes errday..

AT-ST started.. I had to test it out in the display case.. little worried it wasn't going fit!

I too really thought I'd see extensive conversions of models that had sweat pants made of putty.
