Emon and ProTorp Goons

I realize that Boba in the Marauder with Han gunner is the go-to Firespray, but I've like the idea of Emon since Scum released in 1.0. I'm also a fan of Scum Y-Wings and Proton Torpedoes seem to be strong at the moment. This is a list I came up with to utilize both.

Idea is to use the Y-Wings to either ionize ships or take them out with proton torpedoes. Boba crew on Emon allows him to set up for early proton bombs. Rigged Cargo Chute->Trick Shot->Seismic Charge is just scum hijinks but should be fun.

Any thoughts, feedback, or suggestions?

Ok - you baited me into a comment. Truth is I read your post with interest, Emon has been a constant factor in my list building, first and second edition.

  • First off, Firesprays are great, Emon's great. You have so many options with the bombs. I always went with Prox Mines in first edition. They're tougher to use in second edition but I've found with skilled bombardier I've still been landing them. Andrasta / Seismics / Protons are a lot of points but I imagine will be particularly effective against swarms, damaging against tanky non-maneuverable ships and will at least keep aces busy avoiding them.
  • Boba Fett's a cool and interesting crew choice. Do you set up facing away from the opponent and try and mess with their initial maneuvers? I could see that helping the y-wings get their proton torpedoes away
  • Low initiative and proton torpedoes might be a problem. I think your damage output will be very dependent on getting to shoot those. However, ICT at range 1 is a nice fall back.
  • Trick shot and rigged cargo feels like it should be an awesome combination, drop the cargo in someone's face and then get the extra attack dice. I've tried this about three times without it working quite as I've hoped. As a side note, I'm sure you're aware, but you can only drop the cargo with 1 straight (Emon's pilot ability does not apply).

My fear for your list would be where an opponent is able to take out a y-wing early without it getting to fire the proton torpedoes either because low initiative made it hard to get a target lock or simply because it shoots last.

What I'd be interested to explore is if Boba Fett can result in some super interesting opening engagements where you can disrupt an opponents plans.

My plan with Boba is to set up either facing perpendicular to my opponents side and use the 3-turn to drop a Proton Bomb into their path or facing towards my edge. Emon is bait with the bombs and the Reinforce, the Y's are intended to engage from range with their proton torpedoes then close with ICTs with anything that has survived.

As for Rigged Cargo Chute and Trick Shot, I realize it is only the 1-straight. If I can set it up the plan is Cargo Chute+Trick Shot then the following System Phase drop a Seismic Charge to eliminate the Cargo debris. Yeah, it's gimicky but sure will be fun if I can pull it off.

I played about half of one game with Emon and Nym instead of the Y's. It was my first game with bombs in 2.0 so I was just throwing stuff at the wall and seeing what stuck.

I have considered switching out Boba for Informant, but think that the interesting setup options will work better with Emon's abilities and the Firespray.
