Where is the boundary between Large and Huge?

By Piratical Moustache, in Star Wars: Armada

Wanted to share my thoughts on this while we wait for the next SSD article on the Assault Prototype.

Using the ISD (8") as a baseline I've come up with some ship measurements.

Resurgent-class Battlecruiser- 14.6"

Secutor-class Star Destroyer- 11"

Lucrehulk-class Battleship- 15.9"

MC85 Star Cruiser- 17.2"

Bellator-class Dreadnought- 36"

Now obviously the sliding scale of Armada means that these won't necessarily be the lengths listed, but this gives you an idea of how big these ships would be on the tabletop. So the question is where is the line between Large and Huge ships? I believe that the Secutor-class is likely the largest ship that can be considered Large and not Huge, as the ISD is already hanging off its own base.

If anyone was curious:

Executor-class Dreadnought- 95"

I disagree with Dras. 1ishkm through 9.99999999999999km = large. 10km+= huge.

Is that point between the sizes of the ISD and SSD?

yours was more vague :P

This thread is pointless. there's only 1 data point, trying to pinpoint the range of something with 1 datapoint doesn't give you a range, it gives you a point.

The point exists within the given range, given our points of measure.

You still technically agreed with me.

#TechnicallyCorrect. ?

Just speculation really while we wait, the Executor is the max size and the ISD is the largest Large right now, what's wrong with guessing?

The best Kind of correct

If the boundary between Small and Medium is Smedium, then the boundary between Large and Huge may be Lhuge.

Or luge, which is a silly sport

Do you want me to make the obvious joke here?

Yes, please.

We’ll never know until FFG releases two ships in different size classes with an infinitely similar length. But not the same length of course, because that would just be contradictory and confusing.

I don't think Armada will see any other huge ships.

It would feel wrong to me for there to be a large ship on the table outsizing the ISD. An ISD should feel like it can show up and handle any other single ship without much concern (Obviously I don’t mean it can’t be bested by a good fleet, just that it should never look VISIBLY like the underdog). As far as I’m concerned it should stay at the pinnacle of Large ship Size, even if it means shrinking other ships. I didn’t want Rebel’s to have an SSD sized Rebel ship, but at least I can justify that away by saying the Imperials would have SEVERAL SSDs to the Rebel’s one, just spread over multiple sectors.

It might be because of how much I play Thrawn's Revenge, but I am fine with some ships being larger than the ISD, with the ISDs escorting it like in Episode V.

Can't help but smile when I deploy an Executor and 5+ ISD-2s right in the center of the enemy formation, with an Immobilizer 418 in the back of the fleet to make sure no one escapes alive.

I'm huge, you can only dream of large. ?
