so i rounded some of my friends to play a little tournament this weekend. there were 5 of us and we had a good time.

i decsided to play darkelves to give them a run out and they didnt dissapoint.

i started by playing a dwarf deck. this can be annyoing for my deck as they have so many blockers but with 6 tap effects i was sure i could win. i just had to aviod decking so i had to be careful with my card draw.

i ended up winning this match in the end but i did lose one game, i think the reason he lost is because some times dwarfs have tempo problems depending on the build. he could only manage playing one 2 cost cards on sevral turn ones and drawing lots of scots can be great vs him. he did play a ranger which is very annoying for me and he can kill a lot of guys but in the end my guys put too much pressure on him.

round to i had to play vs another dark elf deck, how ever this deck was running a lot of skaven. again i think he had some issues with his kingdom and quest progression tho having 6 scouts and a deathmaster that can kill every guy you ever play can be tricky.

i managed to win some close games by sniping his guys as a lot of skaven have only one or 2 health and the presitess that reduces health can rock. (sorry i have forgotten her name)

game 2 he killed me by doing to great rips 1st by kocking out my warth with his scout before i could cast it which would of killed a lot of his guys and then topping a death master, once he is on the table there is not many decks that can win.

the final game i think he drew bad and my guys took him down by again sniping his guys and making him discard ( scouts are good!)

the final game i had to play vs h elf and empire.

i dont think i have a very good game vs this sort of deck as he plays judgment and shrine, plus a lot of fogs and supports, making a lot of my anti guy hate that much weaker.

he pritty much kills me with the game plan of making a bolt thrower and some random dudes like sword masters and pistoliers.

overall i was happy with the deck and i think it can do ok vs the mighty orcs which (imo) are still the best deck.

I agree, the dark elf deck is a great one, they have a lot of cards that can extremely hinder your oppenents if not render most of their cards useless.

did you just use the core deck or did you mix it with battle packs?

i actually own 3 of every card printed so far so i played with all the cards that have been made so far. i also lent out 2 other decks for my friends to play, saldy i couldnt lend out any more as i dont have more than 9 consteded village and thats prob a 3 of in every deck atm!

At the moment it's seems a shame that Innovation was reprinted rather than Contested Village.

I would have liked to have stuck around and played my last match so that I could keep testing. Discard looks to be a viable control strategy, especially if you can play an early pair of scouts or a scout and Harpies. The higher costs on the Order scouts means that it doesn't seem like they lend themselves as well to the strategy.
