Two Core sets imperials

By LordBubba, in Star Wars: Legion

Hey guys I bought two core sets. And I was thinking about how you could build a 800 point list for Star Wars legion. And here’s what I came up with for the imperials.

Darth Vader – force push – saber throw – force reflexes 235pts

74-z speeder bikes - Long range comlink 100pts

74-z speeder bikes - Long range comlink

100pts

Stormtroopers - Storm trooper – DLT 19 - concussion grenades 84pts

Stormtroopers - Storm trooper – DLT 19 - concussion grenades 84pts

Stormtroopers - Storm trooper – DLT 19 - concussion grenades 84pts

Stormtroopers - Storm trooper – HH12 storm trooper - targeting scopes 95pts

788pts what I like about this, Darth Vader has a great advantage , with Force push that allows him to push enemy units away from objectives. And saber throw that gives him a little bit of range. And force reflexes to give him a dodge every turn. Also master of Force 1 allows him to ready and exhausted upgrade. And also the speeder bikes, are good at flanking your opponent. And the storm troopers , Great at holding objectives. And the HH12 is good at taking out armored targets.

also I was thinking, about buying a few more expansions, and adding to this list. Thanks guys. ?

This is probably how every Imperial list started when the game came out. There's nothing wrong with it. When you cut the fat off (grenades, scopes, comlink) you've got enough points to add another unit of scouts, stormtroopers, etc. More health and bodies usually wins.

You know push doesn't have to go away from you.

Seems like a reasonable starting point. I’d drop some upgrades and try to squeeze in a snowtrooper unit with the flamethrower heavy weapon. Costs the same as a stormtrooper with a DLT trooper.

If you have the units drop the extra trooper minis to fund a new unit (4x extra minis is the points of a stormtrooper unit, and throw in the grenades and scopes you took off you’ve got space for a snow).

You'll learn what the others above noted. The extra points on the troop upgrades don't usually pay off. Eventually you'll want to grab another trooper of some type to add. But honestly the more I play, the better I feel about how to use my forces.

Personally I'm excited for the Royal Guard units. Stormtroopers can feel very underwhelming sometimes. Scouts are fun in different ways as well.

Others have said it simply but I feel the need to spell it out in detail. The minimum squad size is 4 stormtroopers. Up to one extra trooper and a heavy trooper can be added, and the models needed to do this to each squad are included in your collection of core sets.

You can "borrow" the extra trooper model from each squad to create a new squad of 4 troops. Just mark one of them in some way to be a commander: I recommend a unique scenic element glued to the base so that he can easily be reassigned back to his old job.

Since every squad comes with two heavies, your new squad of 4 can also draft a heavy if you wish, if you don't equip every squad with the same heavy weapon.

This might free up some of your list tweaking options. A couple extra guys can be fun instead of grenades and comms and stuff.

Wow I never thought you could do that, that’s a great idea thanks.?

Thanks I’ll remember that, so you can pull troops toward you and maybe bring them into Close combat. and then Vader can slice them up with relentless.

Yeah people do that to create special all-Duros squads of rebels too.

Thanks for the advice about the upgrades.?

And I’m really excited about the Royal guards.??‍♂️????

ah yes, racial segregation as opposed to the outright racism of the empire.

Two cores is the way to go. I started with almost exactly the list you mentioned, then dropped Vader for Veers and two Snowtrooper squads (so just three expansions). That list works very, very well and is a great way to learn.

Plus, hey, stormtroopers paint quick.

yep you’re Right they are easy to paint?

Does anybody have other rebel, or imperial lists, that would be awesome.?

You could look in the Army Building section. Which is kind of about lists.

Thanks I’ll do that now.??

After you create your first imperialist. You would probably upgrade with more bodies. more storm troopers and more snow troopers.?

You have a good start.

As for expansions...

Veers opens up a new to play as a commander.

ATST is a beast, lots of weapons and a great center piece.

Snowtroopers are good, don't let speed 1 fool you. And since most of the objectives require troopers, it's a great add.

Scouts are good add and 2 units in 1 box, but a bit tricky to use.

Boba Fett is a beast, with 2 of the objectives being close, intercept the transmissions and capture the supplies, point wise. His bounty and speed can earn a point and deny them a commander.

The E-web is to new and I haven't played with it yet.
