New Operations Oct 15th

By steveisbig, in Star Wars: Legion

Looks like three more operations were just posted on the OP page. Awesome!

Edit: the Deep Jungle one looks awesome, the others are both kind of generic. Especially excited because it looks like something that could work over the lunch hour at work.

Deep Jungle does look pretty cool. Superior Position looks like it could be interesting as well (given you start with a 300pt army and can then potentially send in reinforcements in 100/200/300 pt increments).

The one I have questions about is Shadow, as the Army Building rules for the first three rounds require at least one Operative. How are the Rebels supposed to met that requirement? (and Round 3 requires 1-2 operatives and Round 4 allows 0-2, how is either faction supposed to get 2 operatives?) Shadow could be interesting, as for the first round you only have 1 Operative and 1-2 Special Forces, after that it does seem to get more generic, but still seems to favor special forces more, as only Round 4 requires 3 Corps minimum.

Rebels will not be able to run this one until December, obviously.

Remember FFG has stated all of the Operations will stay up on their website for use at any time. They are just "future-proofing" the Operations so you can reuse them any time in the future.

Sure, I get that FSD. I just sort of question the timing of the Operation now. Sure people can reuse it, or stores can run it in the current season in December, but still, seems to me it would have made more sense to add next year in one of the early seasons.

We just get to recruit Boba Fett then, right? I think Chewie is tentatively scheduled for November, so it'll be usable for a campaign soon enough.

What are these for? Our store doesn't have much of a Legion following (there's lots of people who bought core sets or who have armies, I don't ever see anyone play)

They are the suggested Operations for OP play. I personally love the interconnected nature of some of them. They feel like a little, 4 game RPG-lite campaign.

Does anyone know what constitutes controlling an objective in Operation Superior Positions?

Usually means "most unit leaders within range 1" but whether that is any Unit or a Trooper Unit only is likely what needs to be clarified.

Deep Jungle sounds fun, I like the progression system and 3x3 with less minis on the board means it can be tightly packed with terrain. 300 points is also an interesting limit, not sure if I'll take a commander or not?

What does OP mean? Over Powered? Where can I find an OP page?

Organized Play ;)

The Operations info is listed under Support on the main Legion product page.

Challenge accepted :)

There's actually a deeper question about the operatives in Shadow.

So, it's escalation, meaning "(a)n Escalation event involves players playing 1v1 and requires players to add to their army after each round of the event. Players must include all units from the previous round in their army when modifying it for future rounds."

So, how the heck do you go from 1 operative in rounds 1, 2 and 3 and then no operatives in Round 4? If a unit is mandatory in round 1 then it cannot be optional in round 4.

What’s the golden rule for if two rules in the book contradict each other? I’d go with that standard if I didn’t know.

But kudos ffg for the mistake. ?

Maybe they're just confident that the operative will die.

Must have missed that rule - are minis that die not coming back next mission?

No. Pretty sure it was a joke.
