Looking for tournies in Seattle area

By Pewpewpew BOOM, in X-Wing Organized Play

Hello,

Although there are lots of LGS’s around here, they don’t all communicate about events in the same way.

I found out that Uncle’s Games in Redmond had an extended tournament today, but nothing was listed here, or the Evergreen Squadron events calendar, or even on their website calendar (you had to check their FB page to see it.)

Anyone know of others happening in this region?

I am trying to work with the owner at MOB Games in Lake Stevens to get something going soon. But apparently it's MtG Pro Tour season? Eats a lot of time on the weekends. We will definitely be having something as soon as the Wave 1 Tournament kits release.

I am lobbying for Zulu’s Boardgame Cafe in Bothell to run something too.

Update: it think Zulu’s may host a tourney in early/mid December. I will post details once I have them. ?

I am looking forward to that! Might get me out of some of my in-law's clingy holiday neediness, eh?

It's looking like, for the remainder of this year at least, MOB probably won't be having any tournaments. But I am trying to get a league organized, and if we get enough people in we'll have access to some of the Curled Paw and Paul Larue prize support the shop owner has been assembling.

The Evergreen Squadron group on Facebook is the best place to get tournament info from local stores. They are posted on the group for the most part.

Yup. Once the details are set, it will go up there.

I was a bit miffed that the last tourney at Uncle’s Games Redmond did not get on that calendar; it wasn’t even on their website, you had to go on their FB page to see it.

Ummmm....why was the November 10th Evergreen Cup not listed on the Evergreen Squadron events calendar?

Probably just an over sight. It was posted multiple times and had multiple threads discussing it on the group page, if you liked the EVG Sqd page you would really had to have not been paying attention to miss it.

All pilots, to your ships!

Wave 2 is scheduled to drop on Thursday December 13th, and MOB Games in Lake Stevens will be hosting a tournament to celebrate!

$5 entry, registration starts at 6pm, dials down at 630pm. Format is to be Escalation/Hyperspace. What does that mean, comes the cry echoing across the galaxy. Easy. We’ll be using the recently released Hyperspace Format rules for legal ships and upgrades. This means roughly four ships available to each of the five factions, and roughly balanced upgrade options. The Escalation part comes in attempt to get us out before closing time.

Round 1: 75 points, 30 minutes.

Round 2: 125 points, 45 minutes; list must include ship(s) and upgrade(s) from previous round.

Round 3: 200 points, 60 minutes; list must include ships and upgrades from previous rounds.

Links to full legal ships and upgrades:

So, basically, it’s official Second Edition Format from the FFG Squadbuilder, with the addition of all items in the First Order and Resistance Conversion Kits (except Biohexacrypt Codes).

Prize support will depend on the number of entrants, but will start with a Wave 1 Kit, may include Curled Paw tokens, and could run up to some Paul La Rue alt art cards if enough pilots sign up.

Man your ships, and may the Force be with you!

MOB Games

303 91st Ave NE

Lake Stevens, WA 98258

MOB Games in Lake Stevens started an X-Wing League yesterday, but it's not too late to sign up, earn points, and qualify for prizes. Thursday nights at around 6 pm-ish. Drop in, or message me for more details. Cheers!

Again, a good-sized tourney came and went and I found it after the fact. Despite it being hosted by Uncle’s Games in Redmond, it is not on their online calendar. Despite Evergreen Squadron doing coverage, it was never listed in their calendar either.

I really love the idea of the Evergreen events calendar or this forum as a one-stop for competative play in the region, but that only works when folks post. 😞

Yup, its tough to track down what might be going on around the PNW if you are not a Facebook sleuth as the local shops are pretty hit or miss when it comes to updating their so called "events calendars".

If you are interested, Cascade Games will be hosting "on demand" X-wing Hanger Bay events all weekend (starting tomorrow) in downtown Seattle at the Hyatt Regency as part of the Emerald City Comic Con event. No event badge required.

I wish I could make it to this, but my weekend is booked solid with things other than ECCC. But thanks for pointing this out!
