I was playing a game using the Innsmouth expansion and something happened that made me love this game even more.
One of my investigators headed up to deal with Innsmouth (funny enough, it's Roland Banks). I go out to Devil's Reef to take care of the gates and monsters for several turns. Once things quiet down, I realize (having never played the expansion before) I can't get back without someone's help. So I have an encounter at Devil's Reef. "An empty rowboat drifts past...Move to Falcon Point and have an encounter." 'What great luck,' I think to myself; back to the mainland for me! So I take my encounter at Falcon Point. I draw the encounter where if you fail a speed check, some tentacle arms pop out of the water and drag you to Devil's Reef to have an encounter. I fail the check. SON OF A... Back to Devil's Reef I go. Draw my new encounter: I'm strangely compelled to leap into the water, so I have to draw ONE Innsmouth Look card. And guess what I draw? That's right! Roland Banks had a touch of The Look. Devoured!
Despite losing a character, I thought it was great how thematic it was.
