[Rebel] UAtYY, or this cockpit design looks familiar

By Ryfterek, in X-Wing Squad Lists

It's a dark time for the rebelion. There's hardly any highlight A-grade build available and the rebel pilots have to keep on iterating over combinations of C-ish pieces, hoping they will finally click.

Me, looking through the models I've noticed three crafts share this oddly familiar nose/cockpit design.

And to be honest at this point it seems like reason just as good as any to throw together a list. Everyone is getting some sparse upgrades to help them doing what they're best at. There's some ordnance, some ion control, some reposition shenanigans, some token stacking, some coordinate, plenty of hull and shields...

But who are way kidding, it's probably going to melt in combat just like any other Rebel list. Thoughts thought?

The guy that won a tournament I went to today flew Rebels.

Juke/Jyn ARC-Norra, Non-Supernatural Luke, And Jan with Lando and Juke.

I am interested to see how Magva fares, but dang Norra’s ability is annoying. And it’s great against swarms, if there happen to be any popping up where you’re playing.

As for your list specifically—there aren’t obvious synergies, but they’re individually pretty solid. Hard to say much without giving it a fly.

I'm already this close to assuming the Rebel Synergy as imagined by the devs is DoA concept. While 1.0 Furship was an NPE abomination, 2.0 living token organisms seem to collapse just too easily.

Few Rebel vessels offer a decent HP/green ratio, making most of them very vulnerable to focus fire. The focus-sharing pilots come with a Perceptive Co-pilot tax - as if you were to give away their only focus, you may just as well coordinate the recipient. Garven has been standing out by generating a new token with no costs, but with the current ruling his ability is unreliable.

Overall, squads like this is where my list building is heading recently - group of completely independent ships, each covering some niche others can capitalise on, but none being crucial for the whole list to work. This way blowing away one of my ships with one lucky volley doesn't make me wish to surrender second turn into engagement.

Sounds like undue frustration. I have seen many strong rebel squads in our game nights

He’s right, though. I was playing two Wookiee’s with Dutch, and none of them felt particularly tanky. Throwing more red dice is basically the meta, right now, and Rebels’s having so much one die agility is surely a reason they don’t see as much play overall.

I did win 2 of 3 games, but still. That part is an uphill climb.

They will have a few reduced in cost and if a few key upgrades, like Kanan, come down a little they will be fine come January.
