Teasing

To be fair Imperials got an ISD reskin while Rebels got their third large ship, so the SSD announcement feels somewhat like an apology for that.

I play both factions for the sake of variety so yes I would've preferred a Rebel ship in addition to the SSD, but so far that looks unlikely.

It’s not really an equivalency here. The ISD reskin brought a meta-defining ISD variant (at least around here).

The SSD comes with a new meta-defining (?) ship and Palpatine, who looks to be a reaaaallllly good offensive commander. So pretending that Chimaera+SSD==Profundity is just wrong.

This is it guys, this teaser picture is a prophecy. An Armada article will drop by the end of this week/next week.

It has been foretold.

Your avatar looks very prophetic.

There's 3 different models for Rebel large ship choices, while the Empire only has one. I wasn't saying that Kuat and Cymoon refits were bad by any means, but I like that the Rebels have more visual variety.

Besides Imperial players have 2 less ships to choose from compared to Rebel players, the 2 dreadnought prototypes will bring it to 20/20.

Double post...

Me thinks with this grand new battleship arriving for the Imps that the rift between Rebel and Imperial players will widen.

It would be interesting to know exclusive player counts for the Imperials and Rebels.

Then you save $200 and realize that it will likely be at least another year before you have anything new to add to your Armada line-up... assuming of course there will eventually be another Wave of Armada releases. So you can put those would-be hobby funds into savings or toward other hobbies.

I don't know why everyone seems so convinced that there will be more ships to this "Wave" and that the Rebels will get some releases to balance against this. In X-Wing, huge ships always released independently and never as part of a wave (in part, I'm sure FFG wanted to concentrate people's hobby dollars as much as possible onto the huge ship, so didn't want to distract with other releases). On top of that, FFG never sought to add parity to the factions in response to huge ship releases. Rebs had two huge ship releases before Imps got any, and Scum only ever gone one. Granted, you couldn't use huge ships in standard play X-Wing, but I would still be shocked if (1) other ships get added to the SSD release or (2) Rebels ever get a huge ship.

This will surely increase the empires reach. The Rebellion will cower before the might of the super star destroyer.

FFG isn't calling the SSD expansion Wave 8 because it's more like a tsunami...

As much as I would like to see more ships announced, I think that FFG wants all the attention on the biggest triangle.

All your moneys are belong to FFG.

That's not Fondor...

Thank goodness McSpaceCranes & Sons has the forsight to build those massively oversized construction scaffolds just in case someone ordered a ship 17 times longer than an ISD. I bet he never let his sons live down trying to convince him he was mad...

...although I bet they look pretty silly when they finish that and the next order is “just one YT-1300 please, standard fittings”.

It doesn’t scream almighty terror weapon either. It’s a cool image but not one to depict the SSD in all its glory, prototype or not.

Did anyone notice that littttttle bit of red on the assault prototypes anti squadron armament. I hope it's 2 reds.

And don't forget about it little friend SWM 28... I think it was. Or 29. I'm to lazy to check. Rebel huge. I'm calling it right now. Out in a year to two years

Now that you mention it...

Although I'm more interested in the Executor II anti-squadron armament. It looks like there's a blue die icon in the upper left, possibly setting the precedent for 3 anti-squad dice.

I'm quite sure it will be 1 red, 1 blue, 1 black.

Yeah cause the executor was known for its extreme invulnerability to fighters...
