Their latest Instagram post is artwork of an SSD under construction.

So this artwork is for the Assault prototype. Are all the extra bits surrounding it some sort of shipyard, or are they being added to the hull as an upgrade?

1) It’s a prototype.

2) Thrawn used a bunch of repair Tugs and Barges strapped to 3 heavily damaged shipsvto good effect... You should emulate that thinking ?

FFG isn't calling the SSD expansion Wave 8 because it's more like a tsunami...

As much as I would like to see more ships announced, I think that FFG wants all the attention on the biggest triangle.

To be fair Imperials got an ISD reskin while Rebels got their third large ship, so the SSD announcement feels somewhat like an apology for that.

I play both factions for the sake of variety so yes I would've preferred a Rebel ship in addition to the SSD, but so far that looks unlikely.
