I cannot believe that people are still this grumpy and giving off an attittude of getting newcomers to leave. Amazing.

If we keep expecting future releases to fill niches that are currently unoccupied (e.g. a cheap HH-like corvette for the Imps, as has been suggested) aren't we ultimately going to dilute some of the interesting identity of the current factions?
....
So, while it seems like we'd prefer new releases to fill available open niches on each faction's roster, it's also the case that doing this alters (if not dilutes) the identity of those factions. Armada would increasingly just become Triangles vs Ovals.
I think you’ve got the situation right here. As much as I want a snipe imperial fighter for example, (cmon TIE Avenger!) it is perhaps not good for the game.
Maybe something similar to the unique squadron cards would work with ships?, eg: a title card for an Arquitens that adds some more speed & manoeuvrability = imperial cr90. But you only get one.
Adds further variety to a faction at the cost of some watering down of uniqueness. A trade off if you want it.
Thats my idea off the top of my head. Disclaimer- not thought out at all ?
Honestly most of the niches have been filled. All that is really missing is that the Empire has 1 less small ships and 1 less large ship and the rebels have 2 less medium ships and no huge ships. We even have most of the mechanics people have been asking for in boarding parties and a pass mechanic. About the only thing I can think to really add would be some more red critical effects and some more support effects.
I less want niches filled, and more want an equal number of options.

More is good.
Not sure if this was said already: Just allow cross faction ships. The simplest solution.
Maybe I'm biased, but I see a large call for specific ships; Corvettes, Nebulon-Bs, and Quasars. I'd like to see them because I've always known them to be part of both sides. I understand some others may want to see them because they help fill a niche that is missing.
This could be introduced into a new campaign by allowing teams to capture certain ships or shipyards. We could also get new ship cards and titles to reflect that. I don't think all ships need this, but the 3 I mentioned above plus Hammerhead, Interdictor and Arquitens could be used for this purpose. If it's within the context of a campaign, capturing ships could be certain objectives as well.

Excuse me, have you got any data for these assertions?

I think the Dreanought (or whatever they're calling it now) makes a lot of sense for that role, so Imps it is!
The interesting thing about the Imperial Support Vessel is the fact it has 2 versions, the Rebels design and the classic Dreadnaught shape.

Some insurgents that Thrawn put down had a whole bunch of them.

So the door is open for either version in Armada.

Which battle is that one at the end?
2nd Battle of Batonn?
The... “30 mid sized ships...”?
...If so, there should only have been 10 of them (reduced by 2/3rds) by the time they reached close firing range and actually opened fire...
I had the impression they were Freighter sized... Something irregular squad sized for us...

I’d rather have the twin-winged Nebulon.
It would be nice to have at least one other medium rebel ship.
I kind of like the CR92a because it is derivative, it was a civilian design that they militarized too more effectively do the operations that Rebel CR90s were already doing well.
Agree with you about wanting a second or hopefully third Rebel medium ship, preferably an AFMK1 variant.

I really like the red ship from the beginning of Episode 1 - I thought that was a nice variation on the Corvette design.

The Consular-class cruiser would be nice to have, I like how it would somewhat match the Arquitens.

True I'm thinking more like what they did with the Chimaera but for the MC80 Home one
For the Imperial Corvette style ship, I'd much rather see the Victory II Frigate. It was one of those ships from Battlefront II, and just looks sexy when escorting Imperial SDs with its full on Imperial wedge.

For Rebel, Id like to see the venator as the new medium size ship, giving the rebels a more combat based cruiser that also still fits with the rebels lore of loving fighters over heavy space capitol ships

Not a terrible design, the wings are a bit much tho. And they couldn’t think of another name...?
I think the vindicator class is one the best designs to fill the size gap.

MAFIA! MAFIA! MAFIA! MAFIA! MAFIA!
And now the Off-topic Mafia Mafia has arrived to take us to off topic. Ironic.
Oh okay, the original topic. *adjusts tie* What the Imperials really need is a unique squadron that takes away the Heavy keyword from squadron at distance 1.
Actually, I don't know, I am having fun with the game as it is and I am not very good at thinking up new content. Besides my idea for an officer that allows squadrons to reroll red dice, I thought that one was pretty good.
Edited by Bertie WoosterWhen someone can take a civil discussion about future types of ships and somehow manage to push their unrelated agenda it should give you a good idea of just how many threads were wrecked by Blails single issue, again and again and again.
If you find toxic forums welcoming and normal, then that is no reason to judge this forum by those standards. You're ability to ignore hostility is nothing to be that proud of. So good for you, but so what?
I think there is more to add to the Imperial and Rebel factions, even if means that some expansions are a bit obscure.
I'm not ready for the Clone Wars or Sequel Trilogy editions, we haven't got General Solo or Calrissian as Commanders yet!

I want prequel trilogy but I agree. I'd love to see the GCW fleshed out a bit more before that happens. We also still don't have U-Wings
I'm curious how a cheap two red anti squadron dice flotilla would work. It's not the most accurate die, but can be devestating to squadrons if it hits. Especially with the double hit sides. And perhaps a single black front die and a single blue side die. This is just speculation, I'm trying to throw potential ideas out there.
