Potential Heavy Trooper Units?

By Indy_com, in Star Wars: Legion

Someone mentioned in another topic about the possibility of "Heavy Trooper" units based on the fact that we already have "Support Trooper" units.

From* thinking about potential "Heavy Trooper" unit options the only thing I could come up with was the DF.9 for the Rebels.

DF.9:

If anyone has any other ideas for "Heavy Trooper" units, or just other potential Heavy units in general, feel free to post them below.

Heavy unit ideas...

TX occupier tank (Rogue one), AAT, MTT, Republic tank, Chewie’s ATST (with Ewok mini you can stick out of the top hatch :) )

I think it’s less likely we will see heavy troopers and more likely we will see a heavy weapons personnel pack that fills the heavy weapon slot of corps with different minis similar to the upcoming specialists pack.

Just as a clarification:

By "Heavy Trooper" units I meant a heavy version of the Emplacement Trooper, which resides in the Support unit category.

"Support Trooper" units:

I think the MLC-3 tankette is one potential option.

It features in some of the wider SW material - as a 1980s toy, in some of the earlier comics, and recently in at least one app game - and would work well in a skirmish game. In many ways, it’s a ground variant of the speeder, so rules and points would probably be similar.

Droidekas?

I assume they would be Support and not Heavy.

I think Droidekas will depend on how they choose to use STAPs. Of course, they could both be support models.

I suspect droidekas will be special forces

I just don't see how the DF-9 would logically be considered a Trooper. The emplacements we're getting have external crew members that can drag them around - the DF-9 is a stationary turret with no exposed personnel. Heavy unit? Sure. But why would it have the Trooper keyword?

I continue to hope for some Dark Troopers to paint.

Hazard storm trooper from Jedi Knight Jedi academy - very heavily armored but slow.

I will point out that the infantry aren't dragging around the 1.4 FD really anywhere. ? But good point about the planily accessible crew (although the driver the AT-RT is just asking to be shot off...).

I could see that, alongside Commando Droids, but who knows what FFG has up their sleeves.

when i hear "heavy trooper" i don't tend to think of emplacements, but rather troops with better armor and weapons. For the Rebels what might be interesting is a small group of Ex-clonetroops in modified and mismatched armor (think Rex, Wolfe, and Gregor from Rebels..)

for the Empire i'm sure there are some stormtrooper variants that could apply,

Dark Troopers would be a good fit here, I think.

Apologies if I was unclear in my original post.

By "Heavy Trooper" I meant something similar to the Emplacement Troopers which we have in the Support category, but on a Heavy base.

An actual "Heavy Trooper" unit with better armour or something would probably fit more into Spec-Ops.

Again, apologies for any confusion the topic title/original post caused.

I'm not sure if a static heavy would be more of an "Emplacement Vehicle" than an "Emplacement Trooper", but who knows. We do need more Heavy units in general.

I'd love to see this on the republic side some day

I'd hope a heavy slot trooper unit would be more akin to a Devastator squad: lots of special weapons troopers.

For the Empire, I think those big security droids from rebels would be a good heavy infantry unit.

Not it sure about the rebels though; maybe some larger aliens with more guns, like the Besalisk from twilight company, or that big white furred mercenary from rogue one?

the Imperial Sentry Droids. and i agree.. they'd be a great choice. plus they'd make Legends fans happier, since they are basically Darktroopers visually, albeit combining features of all three phases.

KX-series Enforcer droids would work as well, having the advantage of being grounded in a movie rather than a TV-series.

Viper droids... The heavy weapons version of the Probe Droids from the Solo movie... But I've said I wanted to see them in other threads...

Death troopers Death troopers death troopers death troopers death troopers !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

...would be fun to see the walker artillery armour unit that was in Solo Movie...

I can't imagine they would be anything other than Special Forces and certainly not Heavies.

Pretty sure that would be a Vehicle and not a Trooper...
