Hooray!

Yea!

Going to get me 2 E-Webs!

I see these as lane of denial tool. Pair of each for me. See a article coming soon on them.

I’ll get at least 1 Rebel Emplacement. 2 may be a stretch. I need to save for more terrain and Wookiee’s.

Oh no! I haven't finished painting my scouts!

I was wondering if they would release these together.

My Boba's done (and I now wished I'd have just gone with a ESB paint scheme because the ROTJ colors were a PITA) but I too have to get my Scouts started.

What have people been using to proxy the FDs? T-47 is the same base size but how close is the height?

If I was going to proxy it I'd use one of my D20 ones. No the base size isn't exactly the same but if the outcome of your games is so close that it tips the scale, I'd be shocked. Especially since they don't move.

What do you mean by D20 ones?

There have been other Star Wars miniatures produced in the past for now defunct wargames. One of the old wargames used 20 sided dice, or D20s.

That's what I thought it was a reference to.

How about those of us that do not have D20 models? Anyone been proxying these units?

They are pretty cheap on the secondary market, all things considered. I proxied tons of things for Legion using my old D20 and IA stuff. But now that I have 800 points of Legion painted for both factions, there's no need to proxy anything.

One option is to use another legion unit with the same sized base, with a token or market to indicate it is representing a different model.

I really want to pre-order some myself, but I’m only 14 and I only have two coreboxes and I don’t don’t have much money, but I really want to get them so bad. ?But Christmas is coming along so hope I can get some then also have to buy all the expansions first. Sucks to be me?

Which is why I asked if anyone knows the height of the T-47 was comparable to the top of the FD turret, since they use the same base size.

I was assuming that someone had already done some extensive extrapolation based on the height of the Rebel trooper minis on the FD turret base that I am too lazy to do...

Hey, don’t sweat it. This is an expensive hobby (yes, I know it’s cheaper than other similar games, but it is can be expensive compared to other activities).

You're young. Enjoy that time of minimal responsibility and don’t sweat you don’t have the same disposable income as us 30-somethings.

Honestly, I’d look towards other units currently out over the turrets. You’ve got the makings of two very playable lists just in the core boxes you have. Find people who will play casual games without going full bore competitive meta.

When you're 14 you've got everything. You've got your health. You've got lots of friends around. You have family. There's always something to do. You don't have any money though.

As you age, you 'll find that it reverses. You've got money... but the more money you get, the less of everything else you have. Your back/knee/whatever hurts. You never have the same days free to play as your friends (the few you still keep in real contact with, a bunch of FB likes don't count). Your old relatives are dead or moved away.

When you are 34 you will look back on the simplicity of playing the (by then surely dead) game of Star Wars: Legion with just two core boxes as an awesome thing. You're 14, you're supposed to be 14, steer into the curve. Live each phase of life the way it's meant to be lived. 14 is for playing (seemingly pricey) games with just a couple core boxes and improvising free scenery out of garbage, and doing stuff like repainting a rebel Ion Grrl to proxy as Leia with photocopies of your buddies Leia cards.

Don't try to keep up with the meta-joneses when you're 14, it won't be any fun because your efforts won't match your results. That was tons of fun when I was 20. By the time I was 30 it just seemed pointless.

I know only 14 but wargaming has been my passion for years now about two years back I pick up a Bolt action starter setI assembled the miniatures. and read the rules and played games of it. I enjoyed it and then about a year ago I picked up a Civil War battle in a box set .from war Lord games I assembled 180 miniatures plus artillery and cavalry I read the rules for Game and then I played the game I enjoyed it. I also got XWing armada played those games. but let me tell you the most interesting thing about myself. yes I am 14 Most kids are raised playing video games. but in our family we don’t play video games. we played boardgames and when I got my first Miniature wargame. Bolt action I got hooked. and when I went to my first convention I went crazy i’ve been assembling painting and building terrain and I didn’t make it out of garbage. I made it out of high-quality foam and a XWing model I found in my old drawer of toys. have a lava themed board. made out of a door with no handle and I put wood glue on it and I had bought sand at Lowe’s and put sand all over it and then painted it black dry brushed it gray added lava streams with paint. I also painted all my storm troopers two squads black two squads white same with the speeder bikes. and Darth Vader I added a light glow. and I painted all my rebel troopers sort of a sandy color and I also painted my barricades and my move templates. and range ruler. legion is my favorite game of all time I just fell in love with it and I’ll find a way to get the money I still will enjoy my life but I still will play legion and get all the expansions eventually. and I also use dice master bags for the order token pool. Thanks guys ?

Every single thing quoted here is true.

At 32, I have two friends from high school I see once in a blue moon. I may have the money for stuff, but finding the time with folks I know outside of legion who also play is limited. I’ve just started going to my FLGS for the league night just to try it out. And we aren’t talking about old injuries from being young and dumb :)

It’s great you found something to be enthusiastic about. Nobody’s going to fault you that.

Nobody is saying don’t play - rather just temper your expectations and understand you’re in a great place right where you are. It’s ok to dream about elaborate battles played on a well designed board, just be careful to not get hung up on what you don’t have so much as enjoy what you do. We aren’t telling you this just because we are older - we are telling you because every one of us has had to learn this lesson somewhere along the road of life and the sooner it’s learned, the more life is enjoyed.

Here’s a question for you - you don’t need to answer it, just ponder it. How often do you play with someone who has their own stuff? How often are you providing both armies?

If you’re playing at the FLGS and with people who brought their own army, consider picking a side and only investing in one. That will make it a lot easier (and it’s what a bunch of us have done, even in our 30s — no way I could afford double armies right now).

If you are the sole provider of the game, don’t worry too much about “all the expansions” and just make two fun, thematic armies and not worry about the full diversity of the game (your opponent will never know the difference anyway). You can have a ton of fun with Vader, the core box contents, and an ATST, while the rebels have Luke, the core contents, and a t47. Are they meta competitive? No not really. But against each other they’re seriously loads of fun and really affordable compared to going forth and building multiple meta lists.

I played my first wave of games with coworkers who also bought into the game with the same base army every time. It was only last week that I finally busted out Veers for the first time.

I never liked video games either and they were huge when I was a kid. For me it was D6 Star Wars miniatures, which led the SW RPG, and which led to Battletech and 40k, which led to all the other GW games, which led to blah blah blah blah.

See someone else would call that and an old door "Garbage". Go forward and make more scenery from garbage!

Unless you specifically like playing with big squares of ranked up olden folks with sharp things, or specifically like playing with teeny tiny toy vehicles, I sincerely believe Legion is the best miniatures game on store shelves right now. And I own a lot of them and have played more than I own.
