Q: Can a TIE Advanced x1 that rolled 1 additional die from Advanced Targeting Computer spend the lock later in the attack? If it does, can it change 1 <hit> into a <critical hit>?

A: While performing an attack, a TIE Advanced x1 can spend its lock to reroll attack dice after rolling 1 additional die.

It can also change 1 <hit> result to a <critical hit> result and then spend the lock to reroll attack dice. However, note that it cannot change 1 <hit> result to a <critical hit> result after spending the lock, as it no longer has the defender locked.

This was clarified in the official rules on the forum.
I was wonderig, if I spend the lock to reroll can I reroll all 3 dice? Or only 2 dice since the lock is now spend and I don’t get the additional 1 die anymore?
In case of allowed to reroll only 2 dice the ‘original’ third die would still count for its effect ... I hope.

You can reroll all the dice, yes. Once you've done the thing, the legality of having done it is no longer being checked; once you've rolled the third dice, it's treated just like any other die.

Last line of the golden rule states "During an attack or while otherwise resolving an effect involving dice, each die cannot be rerolled more than once." So you could reroll one die with targeting computer, then reroll the other two but not reroll one then reroll all three.

Except this doesn’t apply because Adv Targeting Computer doesn’t reroll dice, it just lets you roll 1 additional dice.

Part of the original question was in reference to how it works with the Fire Control Systems upgrade card as well. You're correct the Adv. Targeting Computer adds it's extra die before there's even a chance for either the FCS or the lock to be used to reroll anything.

There is no mention of FCS anywhere in this post until your own.

Yup, you're correct. I went and looked at the post he was referencing, that's where I go the FCS bit in my mind. Sorry if I caused any confusion. The third die added from your advanced targeting system is just like any other die, and can be modified as such, weather you still have the lock or not.
