Just played a solo game, couple questions.

By Ken on Cape, in Runewars

Runewars got to my house today. After making sure the game was complete I tryed a 2 player set up and did a few turns solo to get a feel for the game. A couple of questions came up.

1. Wizards council title card. If you have this you gain influence when a wizards council season card is drawn. I noticed alot of them have bids come up on them. Does the player with the title card get the influence before that bid so he can use it right then?

2. Can faction units retreat into an area with a routed unaligned neutral unit? If they can, what happenes on the the next turn when all units in that area are no longer routed?

#1 - Yes, the influence can be used right away, even for that very bid.

#2 - No, you can only retreat into a FRIENDLY or EMPTY area. If there is a neutral unit, even if routed, it's not empty.

Also, note that if there are any friendly areas adjacent, you MUST move to one of those areas, even if it would cause you to be overstacked; you'd then have to destroy the excess. The only time you can retreat to an Empty area is if that's all there is.

(EXCEPTION: If you have fliers and non-fliers in your group, and the only friendly area is accessible only to the fliers, you can either choose to move the fliers and kill anything that can't retreat there, or retreat everything to a friendly area; this is per an email from Corey)

Thanks. I just thought of another question about the Wizards council title card. This may sound like a dumb question. The card says you decide who wins ties in bids. Is that right after the bid and players are tied? Or do you go through who has most infulence and starting influence first to see if players are still tied?

Yes, if someone owns the card, they decide ties without resorting to other tie-breakers. Check the rules on page 31, under "Ties on Influence Bids".

It's a very powerful card (but then again, all 3 of the Title cards are powerful in the right circumstances)
