To tell the truth, I don’t know how we can play multiplayer easily but if we can figure out a way than we can start gambling!

So, any ideas please? Matt and I started by trying screen shots of an online simulator clone https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/pazaak-clone/9nblggh4nfz8?wa=wsignin1.0&activetab=pivot:overviewtab but the FFG forum upload limit restricted us. We need a better way round this. What do people think?

Pazaak basically equals 21, it's the same game just slightly modified

But the side decks vary it dramatically.

Theres got to be a way to get easy multiplayer going!

As this is my first post in this thread: here are the rules decided (or at least that I indicated) to play with (from page 2):

Ok, let's get a campaign started here.

As Arbitrary Potentate of all things Pazaak, I hereby declare:

Each new player will start with 200 credits, and a Pazaak deck with 2 of each of the following: +1, +2, +3, +4, +5.

New cards can be bought from this forum for the following prices:

No Player can have more than 10 Pazaak cards at a time - any unwanted card can be sold back to the forum for 1/2 of its original price, rounded down. You can always trade cards to other players at any price desired by both, and the results announced here in this thread.

We will play that "fill the table" is not an automatic win, but merely an automatic stand. To fill the table you need to play 9 cards (from the deck or your hand) and not total to 21 or more. "Fill the table" beats any other result of the other player.

Use Discord to send a private message to your opponent listing your ten cards in any order desired - the other player should resolve not to look at this listing until after the round of the game. If desired, you can send your listing to LTD instead for a third party verification - but if that ever becomes necessary I'll be disappointed.

Then roll 4d10 to choose the cards from your side deck to go into your hand.

To roll 4 d10, simply write on a new line

If you roll the same number more than once, reroll until you have 4 unique numbers - these unique numbers represent the card from your side deck that goes into your hand for the match.

Example: the message you sent to your opponent was: +1 +1 +2 +2 +3 +3 +4 +4 +5 +5
Then you rolled 4d10 to get 1, 6, 8, 3 - so the 1st, 6th, 8th, and 3rd cards from your list are your hand - in this case, +1, +3, +4, +3.

The match consists of multiple rounds - you can only play a card from your hand once per match.

To draw a card from the deck, roll 1d10 (!r 1d10). This is the number of the card drawn from the deck (technically there are only 4 cards of each kind in the deck, so if in the course of a round you roll 5 numbers the same, reroll until you have another card). After drawing a card from the deck, the player has the choice of playing a card from their hand (hand cards can only be played once per match - there will be at least 3 rounds per match).

After a match, just come back to this forum and post results, including any credits, etc.

Once per 24 hours, you can play Pazaak against the "house" to earn (or lose!) credits.

Go into the Pazaak Palace, roll a d100, (!r 1d100) and consult the following table:

1-25 - lose 25 credits

26-50 - break even

51-75 - gain 25 credits

76-100 - gain 50 credits

List your player stats in the following format:

And you usually bet 200 credits and clean out all of the scrubs at the cantina

Ok, seems like a pretty simple thing to play via forum.

If this were a normal forum, I'd suggest using the time stamp of the post as a way of "rolling dice." Sadly, it seems this forum system does not allow you see the time of a post in minutes and seconds - only in minutes (if someone can figure out how to change that, everything becomes easier).

So, you just need a way of rolling d10s.

Each player has their ten cards in the side deck, puts them in a particular order, and PMs that to a third party for checking in the event it ever becomes necessary. The players then roll 4 d10s, rerolling until they get 4 different numbers, and then those cards go into the "side hand" or whatever it is called.

Each round, each player rolls a d10 - that's the number of the card they drew from the shared deck. If you want to get finnickity, make sure that there is never more than 4 of these cards of a kind - so if there are 4 10s on the table and you roll a 10, reroll.

You probably need some sort of rules to work out what kinds of cards each player has in their set of 10 at the start of the campaign / gambling evening.

I will be travelling for the next 24 - 36 hours, so only on my phone, so I won't be working on this right away, but this is the sort of thing right up my alley.

It could be set up in roll20.com pretty simply as well, but I think as soon as you take people away from this forum you will lose a lot of "passing traffic".

Can you guys suggest a list of hand cards, and their relative value?

In my mind the -6s would be expensive, otherwise you’d just build a side deck of ten of them and try to fill the table every game.

Ok, so I've messaged a forum admin about adding a dice thing, but that's very unlikely to occur.

So, the best way to have a dice system is probably going to be through discord - and then the question becomes "why not just play Pazaak on discord" - the answer being, sure, I don't know.

So if you join the Pazaak Palace, you'll notice at 10:00 pm (well, my time anyway) I rolled 1d10, getting a 4, and then a minute later I rolled 4d10, getting a 10, 3, 6, 4.

I think there should be a rule that your side deck may not contain more than 1 card of each kind (so you can't have 10 -6 cards).

There should also be some free "0" value cards, so folks can spend their starting cash on purchasing valuable cards, but then still have some free "0" cards to fill the side deck up to 10. Presumably (perhaps the canon folks can help us here) there is some way for people in the Old Republic to play this game for the first time - not everyone is handed a side deck on their 11th birthday or something...

I've just noticed that the bot in the discord allows you to delete your dice rolls, opening the door to cheating, ie you just delete the post and reroll until you get the number you want.

I wonder if there is a way to stop that from happening - otherwise we may as well just be rolling a d10 in our homes and trusting each other to tell what it came up as. Hmmm.

Actually you are handed a sidedeck for your birthday! It's just really bad, featuring such useful cards as +1, +2 +3 etc. Later you can upgrade to the great cards like -6, +/-2,+/-3 etc.

I’m sure there is - many forums have it - but I think discord is probably easier since many folks here use it for vassal.
