Perceptive Copilot Limits
The key is that you have to perform a focus action, not just have a focus token given to you. You cannot perform any one action more than once in a single round. Since you can only do a focus action once, you could only ever gain one extra focus token... even if other effects continued to assign focus tokens to you (e.g. Garvin continually spends a focus token from Esege, then gives it right back).

no.
you can only preform the focus action once per turn and the copilot does not activate on given focuses.

Okay, so I have been playing this one incorrectly and am still a little confused. I perform my focus action and then, thanks to the card, gain a new focus token. If I cannot perform another focus action again this round, and focus needs to be given up during the end phase, what is the reason for gaining a new token?
Spending a token is not an action. So you can spend as many focus tokens as you have, you can only do the focus action once though.

The reason for gaining two tokens is to either pass a spare off to an ally, or to be able to modify two sets of Focus results on the dice, or to allow another ability to trigger from having, giving, spending a focus token, while retaining the ability to use a focus token for modification.
