Ummm... they don’t lose their Champion. They still can put Lion Toturi on their decks.

What’s more, they can now combine Lion Toturi with Emerald Toturi (mixed up to 3 copies), so they even gain in versatility.

Well..... not especially. As everyone else can stack 3 copies of Toturi and their champion. We can Have 3 copies of Toturi OR our champion. This dweeb doesn’t even mention being Lion.

Well, that's what it means to become the Emerald Champion. You're expected to serve the Emperor directly, even placing that duty above your clan. Toturi won great honor for the clan, but it was a sacrifice in many ways.

His ability is also one that favors the Lion playstyle of having only one or two big conflict cards to play, if that, and relying on strength of card stats alone. So while it's available for everyone to choose, it's stronger for Lion in a lot of cases. If someone else had won the championship, presumably their new champion card would be stronger for their own clan too, like an Aramoro that could clear his own status token off himself or something. (Would a Scorpion Emerald Champion abuse their power like that, to absolve or cover up their own misdeeds? I am guessing yes, if the Clan demands it.)

Aye. I suppose, I come from the days of Toshimoko, who still had a pretty blue border, even whilst wearing all that green armour. Also if the lion clan champion can’t use way of the lion. Is he really still champion.

I believe that was actually called out in the discord AMA as a question that is being seriously asked in universe by the clan. Is Toturi still our Champion? Even Satsume passed on the mantle eventually, because he couldn't be both.

Remeber Lion is getting a clan pack next year. Would be a good place to introduce a new champion for the clan. With this info its seems Lion may be the next clan pack after Unicorn & Crane.

Yeah they bought up that all other characters holding imperial positions retain clan loyalty. Only Toturi (because of who he is as a character) chooses impartiality. In universe Lion tend towards the whole lions pride style of clan loyalty, so he’s pretty much gone.
