I think there's more in them with R3s so they aren't as telegraphic. I also tend to think that Knaves would be perfectly good here.

For sure, but until then this does look fun!

Not a fan of FCS on low Innitiative pilots as many times they don’t get the TL until the 2nd round of actual combat.

The 2 Ewings can take a Lock on their very first turn, they have Experimental Scanners.

Predator seems a bit redundant when you already have fire control system. Also as stated before R3 is not a bad idea to use.

Seems like a good basis to a list.

R4 is too good on E's. Makes their Dial one of the best in the game but being able to get locks on multiple targets is also a positive I can see.

Predator was the "I got points spare" option and with FCS means a 2 dice reroll while holding the Lock and as has been said, E's can lock in turn 1.

I've had some fun with the following list:

Rogue Squadron Escort (78)
Crack Shot (1)
Proton Torpedoes (9)

Fire-Control System (3)
R4 Astromech (2)

Crack Shot (1)
Proton Torpedoes (9)

Fire-Control System (3)
R4 Astromech (2)

Jake Farrell (42)
Composure (2)

Total: 198

The E-Wings launch their proton torpedoes with TL-focus on the first pass, then they become excellent knife fighters with their insanely good R4-boosted dial. Jake is there to support the E-Wings if needed (they all move and shoot at I4) or to provide a blocker if not.

I feel like for those E-Wings, Crack Shot would be better than Predator (since they have strong Lock options already and don't need more rerolls) and either go with FCS and R3 Astromech, or go for R2 Astromech. I feel like a jousty, turn-and-burn sort of approach like you'd do with an X-Wing is mostly going to fail on an E-Wing. The increased costs over an X-Wing are just too high. E-Wing seems, to me, better suited to a hit-and-run style more like an Assault Gunboat. Get a good shot, haul-tail out with a 5-straight + Boost, follow up with a 3-hard + Boost + TL to be ready for the next round. If flying them hit-and-run, having R2 Astromechs to add shields and give them something to do while turning around seems like it could be decent.

I liked this enough to buy a second e-wing so I can try it out.

Have you gotten a chance to fly this yet? I’d be curious to know what your strategy is for this build; set up, initial approach, general strategy etc.

Thanks.

I personally haven't but i let a friend fly it against me who is just learning the game and he commented on how solid the E-Wings felt in comparison to what lists he had flown before. The R4 opening up those Hard 1's and the entirety of the 2 speed makes them so agile.

They are Rebel Defenders for the most part they just make better use of Locks instead of the evade and they will outfly anything instead of going really fast in a straight line.
