Help with growing fleets

So I've not been playing armada for long and looking to buy my first large ships

My partner and I mostly play together so I want something relatively balanced but able to against friends fleets

For the empire I own the core set victory and arquitens aswell as imp squadrons 1and want to pick up the isd

For rebels I have the core cr-90. Nebulon b and rebel squadrons 1 and am thinking of getting either the liberty or home one ( really hard choice)

Are these enough ships for 400 points?

The lists I've come up with are these. I want to use the core ships but am happy to drop the victory if need be. I love all the squadrons so tried to incorporate all of them in somehow.

I havent decided if my large ship should be liberty or home one. Home one would definitely be better for my squadrons but the liberty is just so cool!

For each fleet are these enough ships? Is 100 points to much for upgrades? I want both to be squadron heavy as I find that aspect of the game fun.

The above fleet should do ok. You could take it to a local tournament. It isn't fully modernised but packs a punch. If you had lots of upgrade packs it would be nice to add Leading shots to the ISD and change HTTs for XI7s. External Racks and QBTs on the VSD-I. Strategic Advisers are good too for the flagship's officer slot.

For your next purchase think about a flotilla for the cheap activation and Comms Net. Rogues & Villains too helps squadron heavy builds giving intel to free them up to move elsewhere or attack ships. R&V is also a pack for both factions so good for the Rebels too.

For the Rebels I suggest buying the Home One pack. With only 3 ships at 400 points you will need a lot of squadrons and the liberty can only control 2. The Command cruiser can control 4 and so with the Nebulon helping out at least on turn 2 you will do better.

I was thinking of adding a second cr 90 to my rebel fleet or a flotilla. Cr 90 are easier to get a hold of though. But for the empire I wasn't sure? Defs wanna get a gozanti carrier. But would an ISD 2 and acquitens and gozanti be viable? Or a gladiator? 2x arquitens thematicaly sounds fun or even an ISD and interdictor. Not really sure if I wanted to use the victory atm.

Gozantis are viable with everything. I’d drop the TIE bomber squadron (no intel makes it a lot less useful) to give the Arquitens the Dual Turbolaser Turrets they come with and love. As soon as you get two copies of ECM and Leading Shots, each of the larges would very much appreciate them as well. Looks pretty balanced so far.
