I know lots of people have done this but I thought I would share my version. In the switch to 2.0 I have started sharing bases instead of storing a base with each ship in my collection. This leaves me free to modify the bases.

Glued some approximately 10 mm washers to the center.

Then I had some flashing left from my Legion storage. So this is a flashing plate primed in black and then coated with a layer of matte varnish. Then cut into rough squares with aviation snips. You can skip the painting for sure.

Here’s the top view. With a pilot tile you can’t see it at all.

Sime of the washers are a tiny bit bigger than others so the ship rests on the black metal square. So I just made sure the corners were bent up into the base. They seem to be plenty stable and the adde weight is nice. Plus they are now able to stick to a magnetic strip which I will probably incorporate into a tournament tray at some point.
