Don't you just love it when people get excited to share something and completely forget that to access where they're linking from is invite only? Or when they intentionally "forget" that little fact just to troll...

Some pics from the trailer are in this thread. The T-85 also unlike my earlier assumptions looking at them have their wings like the T-70 with it being split rather than full wings like the T-65.

My tip for bringing out the Racing ships would be to make them part of a boxed racing game but include all the parts for playing them in X-Wing.

Include 4-6 ships as needed, with 1-2 pilots each. If they make a lot of interchangeable parts and tokens, it would not even have to be overly expensive.

Man the T-85 looks bonks. This new TIE Fighter too... Whew, there is a lot of design history in that thing.

With the release of the episode has it been officially confirmed if the new X-wing is the T-85? I would like to think it is but they could say it isn't.

Having watched the first episode I can say it’s 99.9999999% a T-85. It can’t possible be anything else. Lucasfilm and Dave Filoni would be trolling us big time if it isn’t.

It’s the T88-1/8

Naked gun style...

Sorry. I didn't think it was a closed group ?

I'm in love for this red tie interceptor !

Hyperdrive, Mag Pulse, Shield ! Look good !

Confirmed to be a T-85. And some pics of the new Tie, likely will have a missile slot.

Adding the T-85 to Resistance would be problematic, similar to how the 75 just outclassed the 65 in 1.0 there is no way to add in a upgraded version of the ship and not just make it better than what it replaces. That is besides the fact that I think its better to just get some new ship designs out there. Another X-wing and another Interceptor (less of a problem as the FO no longer has any access to one) just isn't as cool as really exploring the desgin space and adding in a new ship that is more unique in its appearance and role on the mat.

Though to be fair the sequel trilogy doesn't reallly have much right now that can be used for x-wing unlike the original trilogy.

Besides we don't fully know everything about the T-85. Also remember the 70 and 85 have a larger gap in years made and model number than the 65 and 70 did. It could have a systems slot, two tech slots, totally different S-foils mechanic, higher agility, Slam, dial, and ship ability.

Resistance Defenders... Aka, 2 in a squad, max.

Nice to see that official New Republic logo on the wings there.

Been waiting for that baby for a while!

Right, its just going to have more than the 70. And that is really the issue, both aesthetically and mechanically it will be very similar, but since its a "later model" it just gets more. It isn't going to fill a drastically different role, but will have more bells and whistles. And while I understand there isn't a ton of stuff out yet, but that almost makes it way worse to then release another X-wing into the faction.

Not perfect but here are the three X-Wings to compare them against each other.

They could just treat it as the Resistance's E-Wing/Defender, it is the faction's super fighter. They could run 2 fully loaded or 2 near bare with a filler/cheap ship (not that the Resistance has one yet) whereas the T-70 would likely be able to fit three loaded up and maybe four generics. The T-70 with its ability allows it to be built for a specific purpose so the T-85 could end up being the ultimate generalist good at everything, but a true master of none or they could instead treat it as a heavy fighter with good forward movement due to the extra engines. A ship ability could help set it apart too, when Kaz fired it seemed to do electrical damage for a moment so maybe the option to spend hits during an attack to give a ship ion tokens. That or due to how often they seemed to be using barrel rolls maybe they could give it the option to perform barrel rolls like a large or medium ship, something that would just allow it a bit more options at post movement and possibly better lining up its bullseye arc.

Not going to disagree with you on the fact that alot of the ST ships are obvious retreads, it would be nice to get something newer not sure if we will though. The only real new ships the Resistance has is the transport that most people find ugly, and the bomber which begs to question why the Resistance needs a carpet bomber, let alone one that is so slow and an easy target. Hopefully Episode 9 will have more ships to show off.

There's really not anything problematic about adding the T-85. They'd be more expensive, possibly faster but maybe less maneuverable. I think they would also have less powerful pilot abilities than what we've seen out of the Resistance so far, to reflect the more conserved and less specialized Republic pilots.

Ah, ah. But the E-Wing exists for the Rebels. Which one could argue is just a better X-Wing.

Man, this thing is interesting.

I get this feeling that the T-85 is the F35 of the SW universe. A multirole starfighter that excels at nothing. Visually the design looks like it’s more armored and packed to the brim with advance NR tech but it comes at the cost of speed and manueverability. Perhaps to differentiate it from the T-70 it will have more hull, extra tech and sensor slot but with more red moves.

those actually look like Concussion Missiles, like the Falcon fired at the DS2's reactor, or the A-wings fired at the Executor's shield generators.
