What do I keep and what do I throw away?

By MonkeyInSpace, in X-Wing

After almost 2 years or not playing, I gave in and got a new core set and a S&V upgrade. I have a pretty sizable collection and a lot of cardboard, what should I keep? Can I throw away all my old pilot and upgrade cards? What about tokens?

thanks in advance

You might need the shield tokens and might want the target locks (the new ones are...questionable), but mostly it's just the ships, pegs and bases that carry over to 2.0.

thank you.

Keep your shield tokens, your focus/evade tokens, maybe stress if you feel so inclined.

Keep your asteroids and debris.

Keep the plastic.

You can toss all the 1.0 cardboard that we didn’t mention.

You won’t need any of the card stock from 1.0

I'm a brand new player and I had to convert my just bought collection to 2.0 having never used it.

What a nightmare for me. Today my Mrs and I played our first full-length game and the above is correct. I'll need to dig out my old target lock and shield tokens. Shocking how few shield tokens are provided and Sarah had an astromech allow 2 locks today... Not enough tokens for that.

Keep bombs as well

After packing up my 1.0 stuff, I found myself having to pull some back out.

The core comes with 4 shield tokens, and the conversion kits have none . If you field a squad, you'll want to have some 1.0 shield tokens handy. The tournament regs (if you're interested) say this is acceptable if you take a red sharpie to one side of your 1.0 shield tokens. (If playing casual, just use them like 1.0 tokens)

If you fly a lot of munitions, TIE bombers with barrage rockets use a lot of charge tokens. Again, keep out some old munitions tokens to make up the difference.

I kept my old target locks. I like them better than the ID system of 2.0. The medium bases of the conversion kits (reports vary) often don't "fit" with the ID tokens(old or new), and they fall out easily.

****, I put together a whole stash of 1.0 tokens to cover any token shortages in 2.0.

Ship tokens (the cardboard that goes into the base) pilot and upgrade cards, are all not-compatible. Many manuver dials have changed, and officially you have to use the 2.0 dials.

Old asteroid and debris tokens are compatible.

There are no bomb tokens in the 2.0 core or upgrade kits.

You may want to keep some old dials to allow easy proxying of more ships. In ships where the dials weren't changed anyhow!

when I converted my collection over with the three conversion kits, I did this:

Bagged all dials and cardboard ship bases in one baggy.

Kept 20 of each token used in 1.0 and baggied the rest together.

Left the upgrades in their mini binder and the pilot cards in their binder.

This all sits in a box in the basement, but easy to access.

I'll throw out the 20 of each 1.0 token if/when I have enough of the 2.0 replacements. (except TL's, I hate the new system)

The binders will be reused when I no longer play 1.0 HOTAC, but till then they are handy if I start a campaign up again.

I don't throw anything out until I am satisfied the pieces are no longer needed or no one wants them.

Usually 6-12 months from 2.0's release.

Also, if you have Epic stuff, hold onto that because it might be a while until it's in 2.0?
