Odds were good of what? Not you winning, obviously. Of you stealing a vote from a scum? The odds were greater that you stole it from a townie. And if you lost? What if you lost it to a scum? In my opinion it was a dangerous chance to take, if indeed it was a chance.
Granted, it seems odd that a scum would risk losing his vote, but then again, maybe he only lost it to a scum. . .
It's not a solid case, but it's the best I have today. All the talk has revolved around gambling, which has caused a distraction from the main point. I therefore am suspicious of all those who started anything to do with gambling. However, Lord Preyer was the one (IIRC) who suggested the whole 'Give up my vote' scheme, which Pod and Matt immediately accepted no question. I am therefore voting for LP, but am keeping a close eye on the other two.
1) I’m a pretty good Pazaak player so thought I would win and this would potentially help Town as it could potentially reduce a Scum vote (which of us knowing we were Town wouldn’t want to have more sway over the game rather than less?)
2) It’s totally in character! ☺️
3) Rather than write my 3,498th D1 ‘please people let’s talk about something or else time will run out’ post I figured it would be more fun to do something that was flavourful, potentially of benefit and would stimulate discussion during what is usually a RNG experience. Ta daaaaa!!
Thus I hope you (and @Bertie Wooster & @Visovics ) see that my actions whilst appearing suspect to you are not in fact Scumtells. Please look elsewhere!

When the option is more or less, but not the same, I would rather remain the same, since the potential for going less rather than more still seems to me to be 50-50. You say you are a good player - how do you know he isn't better? What does being a good player even mean? It's a chance, which card will flip, sending you over the limit of 20. Why would you risk a vote on that chance?

1) I guess we just have different philosophies of risk and reward! ?
2) I consistently try to play in the style of the character and game we are involved in. So when I have an idea of how to run with that, I do! This one was irresistible!

LP for suggesting the vote deal, then again if he's agent, an extra D1 vote doesn't matter since town got majority
Vis for calling out the game, direct LP vote, and not giving any alternative to do. Direct vote if troubling
GNIPS why too scared of betting vote, like I said before, an Extra D1 vote still not enough to guarantee a hammer, because agents and sabo doesn't communicate if the game rules stays the same
I want to hear Vis and GNIPS defense if you're town, LP can be dealt with D2 if we lose a town tonight.

I am not afraid of the betting vote, I just find it an irresponsible and anti-town action. It doesn't guarantee a hammer, but it has the potential to shift the balance of power just that much more in scum's favor. It means one less person they need to convince. Sure, they don't know who they each are, which helps us some, but at the same time, that is irrelevant day one, when they wouldn't be coordinating anyway (unless they all end up voting among themselves, of course).
My point being that I am voting LP purely because his actions have the potential to be anti-town, and that is not something I think any townie should do. It is not a 100% solid case, but it is a case, and D1 that is the best I can hope for.

I get this and respect it - even though it means Town will lose a Town if you persist and achieve a majority (though I am of course a little disappointed I haven’t swayed you GNIPs!). Regardless, this post feels Town to me. If my vote were my own it (in line with my actual suspicions) would go towards Vis instead who checked in, went dark and broke cover just to vote against me. GNIPs in comparison has laid out a case, engaged in back and forth, and given off decent pro-Town vibes.
I somewhat agree with Gnips assessment.. (looking at you @Lord Preyer ) however I want to preserve my vote for the time being.
