I feel like FF could release clear bases to mitigate this

Personally I dislike clear bases, as they make the models look like they are floating, not to mention the challenge of preventing clouding when gluing miniatures to the base. Especially with bases as tall as the ones FFG decided upon for ease of use with their movement tool.

I view the bases as telling a story within the army itself, so any theming is obvious while the models are on display, and lets be honest, over 90% of your model's time is spent in storage. Bases not matching the table has never bothered me, partially as I rarely know what terrain will be available.
