Sato MSU

By schmidty1701, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

Just playing around with Sato, and decided to use ships you don't see with him much anymore. Are Combat GR75 still a semi-viable option?

So one of the main ways to leverage Sato is by getting in crit abilities from farther out than close range. In this particular fleet, he can be used to give you dice with better odds of high damage output, but there is a lot of wasted opportunity.

That said, moving forward with your fleet, I think there are some nice areas to trim up and make a bit more effective.

Salvation can really pack a punch, particularly with Sato. However, with no reroll tech, you're in the hands of RNGesus. My personal favorite with Sato and Salvation is to run it only with Raymus on board. This means when you concentrate fire, you can throw 3 black and a red at range and you can reroll one of them. It makes Salvation very nasty with a damage cap of 11 in normal matches. Plus, this brings the cost down by 6 points.

I think the MC30 is also a bit bloated. I see what you're going for with the Spinals. That makes sense. Derlin is perfectly fine, but I think Lando is also very fitting. RBD is a bit of a waste here. To use it, you have to survive to the next round. The odds of this happening with an MC30 tends to be slim once they are hurting that bad. I think you could upgrade to EWS or leave this empty. That all said, if you're planning to stay at range, I think you could go ahead and break this up into some Hammerheads.

This ones is also totally fine if a bit lackluster. Really the CR90A is going to hit harder with TRCs on board. It's consistent, and it does as much damage as a black.

The slicers make sense, but I'd toss Quantum on one of them. The combats get in a few more uses of Sato, but again without rerolls or anything to capitalize on them. If you end up breaking the MC30 into HH's, downgrading one or both of these would give more points for that.

These look great. I would maybe consider tossing in a VCX instead of one of the A's if you end up with spare points. They are a bit meatier and will give you more lasting power to use Sato's abilities.

Looks like fun to play around with. Good luck!

I really like Salvation with Sato, but I have discovered lately that it is too big a target, especially when you are flying against a Double ISD list. For me it seems to die way more quickly than 2 hammer heads, but if you want to feel free to sub the nebulon back in there. Make sure also that if you are going to use hammerheads, that you give them two rerolls so that they can for sure be pushing AT LEAST 4 damage from the front arc and at least 3 out the side.

Faction: Rebel
Commander: Commander Sato (the G himself)

Assault: Opening Salvo ( **** YEA)
Defense: Jamming Barrier ( could change)
Navigation: Dangerous Territory ( easy 30+ points, can make the difference in a 5-6 to 4-7)

GR-75 Combat Retrofits (24) (love these guys <3)
• Disposable Capacitors (3) (yea long range)
= 27 Points

GR-75 Combat Retrofits (24)
• Leia Organa (3) (optional if you make a mistake for your MC30)
• Disposable Capacitors (3) (yea long range)
= 30 Points

Hammerhead Torpedo Corvette (36)
• Ordnance Experts (4) (KEEP ALWAYS)
• Disposable Capacitors (3) (yea long range)
• Assault Concussion Missiles (7)
• Task Force Organa (1) (KEEP ALWAYS)
= 51 Points

Hammerhead Torpedo Corvette (36)
• Ordnance Experts (4) (KEEP ALWAYS)
• Disposable Capacitors (3) (yea long range)
• Assault Concussion Missiles (7) (hot ****)
• Task Force Organa (1) (KEEP ALWAYS)
= 51 Points

MC30c Scout Frigate (69)
• Ordnance Experts (4)
• Advanced Projectors (6) (optional, I like it in the long run)
• Assault Concussion Missiles (7)
• Spinal Armament (9) (or maybe TRCs)
• Admonition (8)
= 103 Points

CR90 Corvette B (39)
• Commander Sato (32)
• Leading Shots(4) ( reroll those two blacks)

*maybe add Jania's Light*
= 75 Points

Squadrons:
• Shara Bey (17)
• Tycho Celchu (16)
• A-wing Squadron (11)
• VCX-100 Freighter (15) (very helpful)
= 59 Points

Total Points: 396 (398 with Jania's Light)

In my opinion, Advanced projectors on an mc30 is far inferior to foresight or admonition. Foresight is advanced projectors light, but allowing 2 dice to be evaded too, is well worth the 2 points. And admonition requires no introduction.

Yes, but... they've included a title already?
