The Mandalorian [Star Wars TV series]

I'm not trying to be defensive, and I do see where you're coming from. I just don't understand how you can be negative with so little information, and when the information we do have suggests a partnership similar to one that produced impressive results in the past.

Primarily because the only contexts that I, personally, have for "story focusing on a Mandalorian" are the ideas pitched by Mandalorian fans which didn't sound that interesting to me. I'm not saying it'll be a bad show; just that I haven't heard anything yet that really interests me and gets me excited to watch it (in that regard, it reminds me much of Solo, which most people seemed to like).

As for all the stuff about antiheroes and whatnot, I just found that to be a rather interesting topic of discussion. I'd be doing much the same thing even if I was excited for the premise, just because riffing and nitpicking lead to jokes (which are funny) and discussions/debates (which are interesting).

As another Mando fan, I really got into the Karen Traviss books. As a member of the Military, I finally found characters I could relate to. Especially the Republic Commando's, their naive gungho attitude in the beginning to their cynical/jaded war veteran nature towards the end, to the Mandalorians themselves, fighting wars that they may not totally agree with, but do their jobs because they are professionals. That, and presenting them as almost a third side of the Jedi/Sith coin. And honestly, their mindset made sense to me, Force users were at the hart of every major conflict in the galaxy. It was refreshing to get an everyman story. I got that with Rogue One, and it would be nice to get one as a series that we can watch character growth.

honestly, I'm very interested in the scummier side of the SW galaxy, I think it would be cool to see SW takes on "Breaking Bad", "Sons of Anarchy", or even "the Black List".

It would also be nice to shift away from Force users for a bit.

As a Mandalorian (rabid fangirl and cosplayer/costume maker) I just wanted to say I'm ectatic. I'll probably be disappointed but hoping not and that anyone who dislikes mandos are missing out and your opinion is wrong :)

Oh, another excuse to drop this photo of me in armor? Sure!

This is kind of why I was hoping for a Rogue Squadron TV series, similar to X-Wing books.

I've been waiting for that since the books as well....

Have you read any of the Galaxy's Edge books by Jason Anspach and Nick Cole? No, it's not Star Wars, but they kinda make it obvious that they at least have taken a LOT of inspiration from it.

It may be too much typical military fiction and too little Sci-fi for your taste, at least Legionnare (first book in the collection) might be.

Definitely worth the time if you have it.

So I guess it will be the adventures of Sabine Wren in her search for Ezra Bridger and Thrawn?

If wouldn't mind if the protagonist is a mandalorian as long as it doesn't involve the mandalorians as a society yet again. Those were the yawnest, lamest episodes both in Clone Wars and Rebels.

You kidding? I'd redact my yawn statement if Sabine was even a side story.

As long as they continue to ignore Traviss's depiction.

What was her depiction?

May I ask why?

I'm not sure she depicted them that way.. most of the characters in the books were flawed, but if you are referring to the idea that they could take down Jedi, well a few dozen clones took out Jedi too, so how hard was it? :)

Yeah, did people even see those Jedi during the Clone Wars? "There are billions of Jedi and two Sith. This kid is going to balance the Force. That has to be a good thing, right?"

Not exactly the brightest stars in the sky...

and she depicted the "average joe" being indifferent or even mistrusting of jedi in general.. especially if said Jedi stole your ship "in the name of the Republic".. doubtful they returned the craft to the owners in same or better condition.

I wonder if galactic insurance covers "jedi"

If we are talking combat proficiency, there are real world examples of smaller forces being superior to others, in skill and equipment.

two major examples are ancient Spartans and modern Israel.

Otherwise, most countries have special forces that can do what Mandos do if given the equipment.

Holy Negativity! Nobody hates Star Wars like Star Wars fans...

I already want to see thiss.

Do we know when it's coming out?

She portrayed the Mandalorian culture as one that did not need a "government". Made decisions in a bar. Some sort of utopian agrarian society on Mandalor. That them being mercenaries is actually a noble cause. I much prefer what Filoni and Lucas did when they tossed out that drek.

I am fine with a Mandalorian being a character. I am just hesitant about them being the main focus, and right off the bat as well. Though using Wendig's side story as the jumping off point has my curiosity. I just never want Traviss' mando fetish to return to Star Wars.

I don't think so but production has begun.

Also this, including some info about some of the directors and a still image.

Well there was no reason for Ash Vs. The Evil Dead to be amazing but it was. So this could be really good. I'm very harsh critic but I always withhold judgement till something is actually out.

Wish there was a Season 4 coming of Ash!!

Only thing I HATE about this Mandalorian series is its streaming internet release! I don’t have internet capable of streaming plus I ALREADY PAY FOR DISNEY CHANNELS WITH DIRECTV!!!

So lets look at the 1st official picture. I want to draw close attention to the most important, but subtle detail from this picture. Above the left eye is a small dent in the helmet, almost imperceptible, but there. This is important because Boba Fett’s helmet had a dent in the exact same place.

In canon a set of mandalorian armour scoured as if by acid, was purchases by Cobb Vanth from Jawas on tatooine. Acid tends to burn things away, possible dirt and paint and could leave things shiny as this armour is. The dent is there for a reason I believe.

This official image has me, about 90% sure this armour belonged to Boba Fett, and now is owned by Cobb Vanth. The story details seem to match up and this art depicts small and subtle clues - the dent. That this is indeed the story we shall be getting.

There’s a Mohawk ridge that boba doesn’t have. This isn’t his armor.

Other than that, and the bits on the side being a little different, this is reaaaaly similar.

This could be artistic license.

But I'm not convinced of that yet. It is something that Cobb Vanth was setup some time ago and that hasn't really paid off, though. There might be something to it.
