Prince Faolin and Ventayla Skirmishers shipping now. No update on arrival, but usually that means two weeks. Yah!
Latari shipping now
Well, we get to have another worlds where Latari roll in with brand new goodies that require some time to learn how to counter.
Without Viper Legion, Uthuk are sitting in a rough spot. 4 armies will be up to their 5 units and 3 heroes and Uthuk will be at 3 and 2. I might actually bring Waiqar.
My logic for Uthuk being in a rough spot is that the lack of any useful ranged unit cramps their army building abilities significantly. Bonecaster Kethra is just... bad. 2 tray Fire Rune Berserkers was adorable and sometimes epic, but soooo unreliable. Fire rune Threshers is not really a thing either.
You would *think* Viper legion makes it on time. I'm still hoping they did some expediting to get all four at parity.

I can live without Gorgemaw or the Obscenes. Viper Legion is what finally allows me to make good armies for Uthuk that don’t violate the rule of 8. Auto-Win even violates the rule and it only worked because the Rippers were there for utility work and no offense. The new objectives don’t encourage that kind of utility unit nearly as much.
Jukey and I have been playing a lot and I’ve been trying every combo I can think of for Uthuk (except massed threshers). I keep running into the same issue that I cannot reliably bring 9 wide or more into melee effectively. Building only 8 wide melee total when you have no Ranged attacks and no unit using Column Tactics is a pain.
I’m curious if uthuk end up in a four unit set-up frequently. If auto-win doesn’t need the rippers for utility, then those points can add power elsewhere in the list.
But definitely viper legion is the linchpin. I ran a 3x2 thresher two weeks ago where viper would really have helped a ton. Being able to fill a 2x1 or two could be really useful.
I’ve also looked at 4 tray zerkers with raven Tabards and Dispatch runner to minimize some of the tray width problems.
As excited as I am to get my hands on ventala, this means I need to rework my worlds list completely. Time for some proxy games.
I was hoping that Heroes of Terrinoth would hit shelves at the same time, to save on shipping.
I wish they'd gone to shipping four weeks earlier, or one week later.

I actually can’t do that. The list is 5 units.
Ravos has both slots filled. I can add 2 points to his cost for worse upgrades.
Both of the 2 tray threshers have their one slot filled
The Berserker Star has equipment and champion slots open. I can responsibly add 11 points to the Berserkers before I’m just sinking points for no reason.
22 points for rippers. So I’d have a 12 point bid (already had 1)
I would have to remove two units and add something larger. That hasn’t worked so far. The list kind of wants 2 big hitters and 3 filler. I could also drop from Rippers to empty Berserkers and free up 6 points, but the Rippers become incredible if my opponent deploys badly.
Every other Uthuk list that I’ve run is weaker. If I take Uthuk to worlds and Viper Legion isn’t out, I quite probably would run an un-altered Auto-Win. My problem is that the change in objectives made Auto - Win weaker while every other faction has gained new (and often better) tools.
Edited by Church14Speaking of objectives, where can I find the current season's setups?
I found this but it doesn't list them all: https://www.fantasyflightgames.com/en/news/2018/8/20/defend-the-pass/
Try this one:
EDIT: It's on page 11
Edited by ParakitorYeah. Seize the Artifacts is the new objective, replacing Demoralize Their Forces.
Maelstrom replaces Standoff
Edited by Church14I'm a little disappointed about these objectives. Very little terrain, and the objectives are basically just about mass destruction.
I was thinking of dropping the rippers and upping to four trays of spined threshers. Then you have a three point bid.
one thing I’m seeing as I continue to build Uthuk lists is the costs of almost everything are often going to take them down to four units. And from a “rule of 8 perspective” that’s ok. And I think there’s a slight advantage to having a five unit opponent list deploy a unit or two before you put down anything. And without flank points from demoralize or much need to pick up tokens, the consolidation is really good.
i would generally agree that the 2x1 rippers are one of the best point filler units in the game. 2x1 naked Darnati are really good, too. A 2x1 zerkers seems to want some kind of utility upgrade, though since that point filler is almost expected to die, I could see it as one of the places where the spend for lethal might be very effective.
Forgive me for being the most impatient person alive, but does anyone know from a local FLGS the actual street date of these?
In the history of ffg shipping now is 2 weeks to on the shelves.
I was told I can pick my pre-orders up the 18th.
Yes, usually two weeks, but you can never know for sure. I seem to remember a product taking a bit longer. But if the FLGS is saying 18th for the preorders, then it probably is two weeks. Thanks!
For the past couple years, FFG has been releasing new product on Thursdays, so that really helps narrow down release dates.
