Ghost with turret indicator

By Sleepyjedi, in X-Wing Painting and Modification

Played my first 2nd edition game with the Ghost that had a dorsal turret. When I went to put on the turret indicator on the Ghost's baseplate, I discovered that the Ghost's special peg makes it so that the turret indicator can't be placed on the baseplate. I ended up just placing the turret indicator on the card to indicate front/side/rear arc, but has anyone figured out a way to properly put it on the actual base?

No, but you can mark the direction of your turret on the base itself using reusable poster tack/poster putty/blue tack. (Sold at the dollar store btw.)

Other folks have been using the Epic ship base & stand.

By the by, you can use the regular Large Ship pegs on the VCX and that will allow the turret indicator to work. Just be even more careful with it than usual.

The VCX stand is terrible. Maybe when they've decided to re-release the ship for 2nd edition, they come out with a better solution.

You can also try magnetizing the ship to a large peg (use flat, disc magnets).

Or you can buy an acrylic turret marker that fits the VCX's special stand. I believe Curled Paw has them.

The tournament regulations state the following on page 4:

For the First Edition VCX-100, because the peg does not accommodate a turret arc indicator, a player should place a small single turret indicator on the punchboard, inside the arc the turret occupies.

So I guess that will become the most common way to do it.

With how that is worded sounds like the second edition ghost will be different and possibly a new type of peg.

Thanks for the suggestions. Guess I’ll just have to make do with the work arounds
