Anyone tried Jerjerrod?

By Prosk_019, in X-Wing

Made a couple lists with him and I'm anxious to try them out.

Here's one:

Jery ( 200 )

Scarif Base Pilot — TIE Reaper 41
Moff Jerjerrod 12
Ship Total: 53
Nu Squadron Pilot — Alpha-Class Star Wing 35
Fire-Control System 3
Adv. Proton Torpedoes 6
Advanced SLAM 3
Xg-1 Assault Configuration 0
Ion Cannon 5
Ship Total: 52

Xg-1 Assault Configuration 0
Ion Cannon 5
Ship Total: 52
"Duchess" — TIE Striker 42
Ruthless 1
Ship Total: 43

I'm thinking he'll be good for low ship numbers because you don't lose as much for only using his ability on 1 or 2 ships at a time. (I'm aware the reaper won't get squat out of him outside of attempts at blocking I1s.)

The thought of Duchess' potential with him makes me salivate...

Thoughts?

i just find him to be way too expensive for what he does.

Every-other-turn red boost for the whole team, but they all must use the same template. The same template part is what kills it imo, you basically can only use him for 1 ship in most situations. Plus that ship is kinda obligated to do a blue now.

I've tried him on a Shuttle. Makes blocking options hilarious. People don't appreciate how far a 1 bank 3 forward large base ship can move. You can come for the block from halfway across the mat.

Also, if you initiative match with a bomber, you can boost then drop your device in the system phase.

For TIE bombers this means you can place a device marginally in front of where you started.

For Tragedy Sim opens up some interesting options for sure.

But it does seem pretty costly

He is unlimited range though, which is neat

Biggest problem is that imp ships don't have anazing blues and a lot of them care about stress (especially ailerons and ASLAM ships)

I tried him once with two trajectory simulator punishers as a janky list. The idea was to boost them when the time was right to surprise someone with a bomb. It...was ok. I could revisit it, and maybe there was something there, but Jerjerrod is hard to use, especially with the 'same' boost thing. I think he was a failed experiment of Ffg thay somehow got printed.

Basically I look at him, try to think of a situation where I want everyone to boost in unison in the same direction. I can see it at the opening as a way to close the engagement at a high speed. Beyond that it’s basically an expensive and limited advanced Sensor.

As for the list presented, Duchess is going to be much more difficult to fly than she otherwise is. Mainly because you have to visualize not one position but 2 and missing the initial boost action may totally ruin where you think you are and further deteriorate planning.

Duchess likes Jerjerrod. However, he is expensive for what he does. Yes, boosting with a deci is fun, but red reinforce the round before is bettet.

Thanks for the feedback! I won't lose hope, gonna try him out with the list I posted and maybe with a lambda for some less stressful turning.

Here's one I made last week. Was pretty solid wins overall. The catch is to shore up the directional boosts. If all your ships have composure and can't make their boosts, then it's a focus token instead. It's a lot of stress to contend with, so you're running a slower swarm to clear stresses.

Composure won't trigger off the boosts. With the change to red actions (still get the stress if the action fails), any ship that fails the boost will be stressed and unable to perform the focus action granted by Composure.

"The Moff" (Jerjerod) in 2.0 is an Imperial superstar , allowing Deathrain to reach pre-nerf advanced-sensors-trajectory-simulator-Nym status:
