?? A question about crafting and templates.

By Havoc76, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Hey guys,

I do have a question on crafting.

I am playing a gand who aspires to be a huntsman and somehow he is the best melee char in our group. In the last session I thought a vibro hatchet would be a nifty little melee tool. Finding out about crafting by accident, I thought crafting is a good way to get one.

When I read about templates, it seemed rather general. There is only a template for vibroweapons.

So here is my question. If I decide to craft my own vibro-hatchet, I select the template for materials and crafting. But it would have varying statistics.

Would I just substitute my own stats for the hatchet? And then add whatever I get from the crafting roll?

Specific Weapon Template

Vibro-Hatchet 200cr/3 Hard Mechanics check 1day (24hours)

Stats for the hatchet:

Melee +2 Crit 2 Engaged Enc. 2/3 HP 2 500Cr Rarity 4 Pierce 2, Vicious 2.

I’d appreciate some input by you guys.

Cheers,

A Game Master is within his right to create his or her own templates. All of the Source books that have crafting sections state this. As for using the existing templates though, the only way you, as a player, will get a weapon that varies from the baseline template stats, and thus similar to your example, is through getting Advantages/Threats, or Triumphs/Despairs. In this case, you'd need to get a Triumph or two Advantages to increase the Vicious quality to two. Even then, it won't increase the base damage. For that, you'd need it to be either two handed (which also increases the encumbrance, and not really appropriate for a hatchet), or adding the Superior quality. However, to have that built into the weapon during construction, would itself require two Triumphs for the Integral Attachment result.

I would say your stats are probably fine, and now go ask your GM.

Thank You for the quick clarifications.

NP, Choppy McChopperson.....

You could also just re-skin a vibro knife for a quick resolution.

Or even better: Vibro-Machete

3 advantages or a triumph would also allow for an increase in the damage. So no need for Superior and two triumphs. That's if you want more damage on top of it later.
