New Players - First Pack to buy?

By WD-Jamin, in Legends of the Alliance

Hi All,

My wife and I are new to the game, we have only the core set in our possession. We are close to completing our first campaign (mission 3) on normal with the tutorial heroes.

With the holidays coming up, I am starting to think about the best expansion/pack(s) to get to help enhance our game play. Thus far we have exclusively played only the app. I know Jabba's palace is loaded into the app (that is already on my list), but any others that you would recommend?

Thanks,
-Jamin

the app will pull content from your expansions. any hero and villain packs will add either new Allies or random Villains to spawn. though if you want some more unit diversity, you could get some hired guns, ISB agents. any big or small box expansion will add a few more cooler units, like Heavy troopers (twin shadows) or death troopers (Tyrants of Lothal).

depends on what you are aiming for in the App experience.

I might not be the best to suggest specific packs because I have everything, but maybe not the worst person either... ;)

For campaign with or without the app the boxed expansions are the best value, but there are some "reinforcement waves" that add nice non-unique imperial (imperial/mercenary) groups to the arsenal. However, these are most useful in the 1-vs-many campaign and less needed in the app.

For the Jabba's Realm campaign in the Legends of the Alliance app I would buy (in addition to Jabba's Realm) the Captain Terro villain pack (if you gain Luke (Jedi Knight) as an ally you can proxy with his existing figure), and maybe some other boxed expansion of your choice. My suggested order: Twin Shadows, Heart of the Empire, Tyrants of Lothal, the Bespin Gambit, Return to Hoth - doesn't mix well with the Jabba's Realm campaign.

Having access to more bounty hunters doesn't hurt the immersion either.

I'll second what Albert said and also zoom in a bit on his choice of Captain Terro. He and Jabba are the villains that came out in the same wave as the Jabba's realm box, and I don't think it's too much of a spoiler to say that both of them feature in the app campaign as well. If you're into using figures instead of the cardboard cutouts they're both good choices (and it doesn't hurt that both of them have really cool minis as well!)

Thanks for your insight folks!

The Captain Terro pack also comes with the Dewback Rider, which isn't included in the Jabba's Realm box. The miniature is configurable between Captain Terro and Dewback Rider.
