I would say no. You're ignoring the obstacle, for good or bad. The good is that you can shoot while your ship overlaps the obstacle, and on top of that, your opponent doesn't get the bonus green die from an obstructed attack (it's a penalty to the attacker, applied to the defender's dice). The bad is that Trick Shot or Scum Pilot Han Solo won't trigger. At least, this is the consensus interpretation at the current time..

Then anyway, collision detector would be useful on B-wings that wants to use the focus->red barrel roll Linked action, since they want to be stressed.
