Are there any rules for determining how much storage space a ship has available? Just trying to figure out how much loot you can load up on before your storage is full.
Starhip storage space
That's going to be more a matter of interpretation. To my knowledge there is no actual rules for this, which is why the cargo hold in the ship supplements give additional achievement points, to simulate the larger abstract amount of goods the ship can hold.
Even with no cargo component, i'd let your PCs get a lot of loot in their ship.
Once they have a cargo component (especially the main cargo hold) assume this capacity becomes truly vast.
Certainly moving hundreds of thousands of people, transporting millions of tons of ore, etc are possible on a single transport.
If you have a doubt about a transport mission, just add "towing pods" of cargo around the ship. As almost all external systems, anything surpassing the void shields will autimatically destroy iy (and also they might impose a -5 to -20 to Maneuvrability (speed would be affected with -1 only when starting movement or when trying to make a full stop, thanks to the inertia). Of course, here I'm talking about transporting so much things you can't literally grasp it. Also allow them to detach the pods in a single turn if they want, they might get a sour face when a raider attaches the pods while they are pursuing the bait

This sounds like a good idea for my Component Contest . Care to enter?

Even on a 'small' Raider vessel the storage area can be truly vast. On a purpose modified vessel with cargo capacity even more so, hence the abstract system in RT for wealth and 'booty'. Micromanaging it would be impossible. How many alien toaster ovens did you loot from the last planet you conquered? If the players want to get specific with what they take on board thats fine too but you can let them 'hang themselves' if they start choosing things that simply can't be sold, sold legally, the market is already glutted, et cetera. I'm glad for the abstract wealth system as it allows for an optimal outcome quite a bit of the time.
