Shoal (because, you know, swarm with big beast feels wrong somehow)

MLU 1.0 (393/400)

Imperial I-class Star Destroyer (110 + 31)

Gozanti-class Cruisers (23 + 2)

Gozanti-class Cruisers (23 + 2)

Most Wanted
Contested Outpost
Solar Corona

Just an experiment about how far I could go with 2 biggies. 7 activations feel scary. I even got a humble bid and could be better without comms nets.

You could even have 9 activations with 1 big ship if you wanted. Very impractical though.

Activations

Faction: Galactic Empire
Points: 400/400

Commander: Admiral Ozzel

Assault Objective: Most Wanted
Defense Objective: Contested Outpost
Navigation Objective: Solar Corona

Imperial I-Class Star Destroyer (110 points)
- Strategic Adviser ( 4 points)
= 114 total ship cost

Gozanti-class Cruisers (23 points)
= 23 total ship cost

Gozanti-class Cruisers (23 points)

Raider I-Class Corvette (44 points)
= 44 total ship cost

Raider I-Class Corvette (44 points)
= 44 total ship cost

Raider I-Class Corvette (44 points)

[ flagship ] Raider I-Class Corvette (44 points)

= 64 total ship cost

Blowing up things.

You could change the second ISD into Demolisher APT OE freeing up 39 points.

  • Flagship into BT Avenger with DTT
  • E-Rax & OE on the raiders
  • Supressor
  • more bid

The pic quacked me up. ?

Seriously though, one large and several small ships looks like the composition of an Alliance fleet.

This could be a dramatic improvement in overall combat power. It also will actually live to see round 6...

ISD Kuat Refit (112)
• Strategic Adviser (4)
• Boarding Troopers (3)
• Electronic Countermeasures (7)
• Leading Shots (4)
• External Racks (3)
• Avenger (5)
= 138 Points

ISD Kuat Refit (112)
• Moff Jerjerrod (23)
• Boarding Engineers (2)
• Electronic Countermeasures (7)
• Leading Shots (4)
• External Racks (3)
= 151 Points

Raider I (44)
• Ordnance Experts (4)
• External Racks (3)
= 51 Points

Gozanti Cruisers (23)
• Comms Net (2)
= 25 Points

Squadrons:
• Ciena Ree (17)
• Valen Rudor (13)
= 30 Points

Total Points: 395

I mean... the OP’s premise was really to have high activation count. This is a (perfectly respectable) dual ISD list. Obviously it could be brought up to six activations by swapping Ciena + Valen for a flotilla and better bid, and that’s often all you’ll need.

It seems a player can have the following:

7 activations, 2 ISD-1s with rerolls, a seven point bid.

7 activations, 2 Kuats with rerolls and ER, a four point bid.

6 activations, pretty much every important upgrade, two of whatever ISD, a bid depending on what variant/loadout you chose.

Well, the real reason I made it a Kuat is so that the big ships can have ECMs, which I think is more important than both the rerolls and exracks combined... The idea that he wants 7 activations maybe true, but since it provides no strategic benefit, I believe that my list is far superior for anyone trying to understand how you fly double ISDs. I know he WANTS to have 7 activations, but it just doesn't make good sense to do that. I hope you see what I am getting at. nothing against his list, but it just would not provide results. Ciena and Valen combined is also better than a gozanti as well... 5 activations is basically the most you need to be competitive. if you look at the stats, MSU or LSU for that matter do not do well competitively. sorry for making it about competition

You’re right, but can’t help feeling you have different priorities than the topic of this thread, which is a thought experiment. Ovi has presented competitive dual ISD lists in this subforum before, and knows how to build (and presumably fly) them competitively.

But if we’re discussing competitive dual large, I strongly prefer 6 activations to 5 (hopefully with a bid here, given the in close nature of the Kuat.) Part of this can be attributed to my local meta, where 5 activation lists are a common sight. Ciena and Valen are a solid speed bump, but increasingly common squadless lists only make them a harder sell, even compared to Tycho and Shara with their superior battery armament. The positioning advantage of that extra activation and better chance to first last is a trade I’ll make any day. I can’t speak to the statistical effectiveness of LMSU, but it’s proven to be at least a viable archetype, and won Nova. If you have more data, I’d be interested in seeing it. And 7 activations is overkill. Nobody is questioning that, I’m not trying to be combative here. We largely seem to agree on what constitutes a competitive fleet.

More activations is not bad. To have more than necessary may be. However that's a meta problem.

5 activations show me to be useless my last tournament. Or I had two more or I have less anyways. That's the reason behind the tweak I did on my tournament fleet going up to 6 which would compete against MSU but with beefier ships. I played with just 3 activations for a long time with success but activation advantage definitely makes things easier. As Jabba said here I was just figuring out a way to push up those activations even more without loosing too much effectiveness (basically keeping some reroll source and supporting less-deadly shots with double arcing). It was just for fun.

@Green Knight already pointed out. I think those ISD are right in the limit. Reroll and double arc are enough firepower IMO but it is true there are better setups. They would sacrifice activations thought.

I could sacrifice rerolls for xi7s but I would have to try it first.
