Turr Phennir’s after attack action

By BigBadAndy, in X-Wing Rules Questions

If Turr Phennir boosts during his activation phase, can he trigger a boost for his “after you perform an attack...” action?

Short answer: No.

Explanation: Because the rules prohibit performing any given action more than once per round, Turr Phenir can't perform a boost action while activating, then perform another boost action after his engagement. The same holds true for barrel rolls... he can't roll during activation, then roll again during engagement. Doing one of each action, though, is 100% legal!

Worth noting: If some effect causes you to perform "a boost," as opposed to "a boost action ," it doesn't count against your once-per-turn limit. These are usually effects like tractor beams.

With regards to that last bit: FFG tends to use [boost symbol] or [barrel roll symbol] when refering to the action, but will use the word "boost" or "barrel roll." It might not be universal, and FFG might make a mistake, but generally the actions use the symbol (and are once-per-turn), while the effect does not use a symbol and can be done any number of times as is required by the game, without regard to actions taken.

To that end, how awesome would it be if the forum had specialized emoji to match various FFG symbols?
