Norra: Will she get an extra evade+ a die?

By Minimono, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Was wondering if Norra will just get an evade on her 1 die defense on range 1 and 2, or if she will get an extra evade result AND the result of her 1 die?

The latter. Nothing says she doesn't roll, so she does. Her ability is SUPER powerful, especially in 2e where added evades are vanishingly rare.

Norra works by adding a die set to the Evade icon.

Thanks! Happy to hear that she add an extra evade

Anyone have clarity on when Norra's ability triggers? Since it's no longer a "you may," does it occur automatically when you roll, or does it wait for the modify dice step?

Still in the modify step, because she doesn't specify another timing.

Interestingly; the Y-Wing is now a mandatory add, but the ARC is not ...?

They both are mandatory as per the rules reference..

"SHIP CARDS
•Norr a Wexley (ARC-170)
Should read: “...range 0–1, add 1 ? result to your dice results.”
(Removed “you may”)" - page 22 of the rules reference.

Does Norra get the Evade result if she doesn´ t roll any defense dice? for example if her agility is reduced to 0 ?

Yes.

This has nothing to do with dice you rolled. It care about the results you got. Having no dice in the pool is still a result. In 1 - 1 = 0, 0 is still a result. If I say add 1 to your result, you can still add to 0.

If I understand you correctly, then rolling no dice counts as a "dice result"?

The rules for modifying dice say:

Quote

To add a die result, place an unused die displaying the result next to the rolled dice. A die added in this way is treated as a normal die for all purposes and can be modified and canceled.

By the logic being argued in this thread, you can never add a result if no dice were rolled, because there are no rolled dice for the added result to be placed next to!

Norra's ability is fairly straightforward in this regard. Let's not get bogged down in the weeds trying to make an unintuitive ruling work.
